Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 21, 2013 11:00 am Our house comes with stone bench tops throughout, and I know the costs for the stone is generally calculated on how many sheets of stone you would need. But I would like to make the kitchen stone a different colour to the bathrooms/laundry etc do you think this would be okay or would I be charged extra for doing this? We are building with Aveling. Has anybody had any experience with this? What was the outcome? Thanks My build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=68002 Re: Stone Bench Tops Charges 2Nov 21, 2013 12:57 pm It depends on the sizes and sheet numbers, a bit like you mentioned. Essa stone is approx 3m long. For my build for example they are using the left over pieces to do the bathroom and ensuite. So if I wanted a different colour for them, it would be extra as a new sheet would be needed. However it may be in your case that the bathrooms would be their own sheet anyway, in which case you could choose different colours. Hope that makes sense My build: viewtopic.php?t=62001 My Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62001 Re: Stone Bench Tops Charges 3Nov 23, 2013 9:28 pm It depends what Aveling are offering..... for example from my builder (ContentLiving) we were allowed to choose up to 2 different colours of stone for the entire house. I have a colour in the kitchen and then a different colour in the bathrooms. Also be aware, when you're looking at showrooms, you need to find out what stone benchtop colours are in Aveling's "builders range" (or you can opt to pay more to upgrade to a colour outside of the range). In my builder's range we had the choice of 6 essastone colours. The full pieces look really different to the little pieces that you can order online. Some of the little pieces I really didn't like.... but then I saw them in full and was impressed by them. The Essastone pieces are on display at the Laminex showroom in Ozzy Park. Re: Stone Bench Tops Charges 5Dec 05, 2013 2:02 am We have different stone in our kitchen, laundry, bathroom and ensuites. We are also with Aveling with stone throughout included. They didn't charge us extra for different colours My Build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64881 Re: Stone Bench Tops Charges 6Dec 05, 2013 2:58 am Open Slather with REDINK. (just sayin for those reading thread). We have different stuff in the 3 bathrooms and something different again in the laundry(Essastone) I actually made enquirys about Ceasarstone Sheets and their cost. Its really quite cheap to buy the raw material. These engineered quartz benchtops is where builders make money $$$$$$$. Its almost impossible to retrofit it into your home so the builders make it count. Dont wish to offend but laminates are expensive and when they cop some water swell up uselessly. Weve got Essastone waterfalls on the kitchen bench with 60mm thickness and that cost us $1200 extra alone off the top of my head. Redink offered it free for the kitchen and we had to cough up extra for the laundry and the 3 bathrooms. I put the thumbscrews on and got it at a bit of a cheaper rate prior to signing.
