Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 30, 2012 5:30 pm Hi guys, This is my 1st post on here although I have visited many times to get hints/ideas with our upcoming build with M. We have our colour appointment coming up and think we have decided but just wanted to get some opinions on facades These are the colours we think we'll decide on. Bricks - austral chocolate off white mortar Roof - shale grey colorbond Gutters - shale grey Fascia - surfmist Garage - shale grey Having a portico with 2brick piers which will be rendered surfmist Does anyone have any pics of these colours or similar as it is hard to picture. Cheers! Re: Facade colours - Shale grey roof/chocolate bricks 2Nov 30, 2012 7:28 pm Hi Travcol Welcome! I'm also trying to figure out our facade! It's tricky hey? I actually had a look at the chocolate brick today (its right next to our grange brick). I think that 'Dune' would look better with this colour brick. Have you tried 'Envisage' on www.studiom.com.au ? It's really helpful. Goodluck! Feel free to follow our build! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59958 Re: Facade colours - Shale grey roof/chocolate bricks 3Nov 30, 2012 9:06 pm sammymac Hi Travcol Welcome! We have been using studio m and has help us a fair bit but hard to tell which light colour would look best in real life as in surf mist, shale or dune. I think we decided on shale grey because we like greys and whites and I think dune might give off too much of a brown colour and surf mist MIT be too white. But really want to see some pics or in person. Re: Facade colours - Shale grey roof/chocolate bricks 4Dec 01, 2012 5:25 pm You seem to like greys like we do! We are opting for the Austral 'grange' brick as it gives a bit more of a grey tone. Dune would definitely give off more of a brown tone. I have a thread here with pics if you want to see what I've played around with: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60927&start=20 Feel free to follow our build! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59958 Re: Facade colours - Shale grey roof/chocolate bricks 5Dec 01, 2012 6:21 pm Hi Travcol, Yours are similar to ours, although we have the grey colour through shingle tiles not colorbond and our Garage we also made surmist for the contrast against teh brown. We have Nutmeg PGH (very dark chocolate) and like you it was very scary not seeing it - but it turned out amazing. I was nervous with just having the dark chocolate with the grey roof. Anyway, blog link below so have a look through, I have lots of photo's. Our Portico columns are also rendered but will be painted Taubmans Athena. Not sure how this comes out yet as we haven't reached the painting stage, but in some of the photo's the render at the moment looks really white and I have thought about changing it to surfmist, but I'll see how Athena turns out - a light biscuit colour I think! Our colours are: Roof: Colour through shingle tiles Gutters: Woodland Grey (to blend with the roof) Fascia/windows garage: Surfmist Brick: Nutmeg smoothface PGH Mortar: Off white (flush) Good Luck!
