Randome side note, I saw the blackboard easel box on your messy site shots and had to laugh, because recently someone has dumped an easel on our block that looks just like the box form your site. Ohh Yeah - wish i knew more accurately though so i could organise movers etc etc, what's happening at your place at the moment? Hamilton23 Hi Nickvee, Love the rug and glad your mortar is ok. Randome side note, I saw the blackboard easel box on your messy site shots and had to laugh, because recently someone has dumped an easel on our block that looks just like the box form your site. Thanks Hamilton! We are pretty happy with everything now, when the mortar is wet it does still look a little yellow, but i feel better knowing that once it dries out it looks A LOT better.. That's hilarious about the easel, it's like people just consider our site a tip! Oh well it gets removed anyway.. Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC. 165Jul 04, 2013 8:54 pm We have a toilet and hot water service dumped on our site.. Nickvee, I complained to Burbank this week, the tradesman that level out your block decided to use the pile of sand we had to level your block. When I asked Burbank to please explain, the contractor emailed me and apologised but said in defence of the tradesman it is an unwritten law that if a site is finished their bricks anyone else can use any left over sand!!! Not in my book, made them replace it, Burbank actually apologised and advised they do not encourage this and are disappointed in their actions. Feel your pain Bluesuede, we are going so slow, although we had stopped the build for a few week to allow for our independent inspector to complete inspection before they started plastering, so glad we did allot of things need to be fixed. Can't advise people strongly enough to pay that bit extra to get an independent inspector in, well worth the money. Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC. 166Jul 04, 2013 9:31 pm Sounds like the unwritten rule that tradies can come to your house and use your water too! Luckily, i am not paying for that!
I was wondering where all that new sand came from as i remember they used our left over sand to level ours initially..don't know why they did that when they just ripped up the front yard anyway to dig a trench.. We have used an inspector for frame, pre-plaster and pre-handover is on the cards too.. Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC. 168Jul 05, 2013 6:24 pm nickvee what's happening at your place at the moment? Hmm...not a great deal. Painting is going...and going...and going. I think he (it's one little hunched over old guy with a ciggie constantly in his mouth) is painting part of a wall each day. I have doubts he'll ever finish. Tiles were delivered and have been sitting there for a week or so, which is fair enough because the little old guy still hasn't finished painting his masterpiece. I'm expecting a reproduction of the Sistine Chapel ceiling with the amount of time he's spending in there. I'm impressed also at the amount of cigarette butts he leaves inside. It smells and looks like an ashtray in there. I'm running out of patience. They started in January. Completed a knock down and rebuild in northern Melbourne. Handover completed 27/09/2013 and now moved in. Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC. 169Jul 05, 2013 6:36 pm At least he is taking his time, ours was painted in roughly two days and I'm sorry but it just looks crap! Really crap, lots of stuff ups!
To top that off, our toilet light is not even centred in the middle of the room :/ Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC. 170Jul 05, 2013 8:47 pm Bluesuede, I hear you about the cigarette butts!! When our plaster starts to go up next year...I will be letting the SS know I don't want tradesmen smoking in the house. Nickvee, did you find many issues needed to be rectified at the pre-plaster inspection? We had heaps of walls not level and the inspector even noticed the nails they used in the windows were not galvanised so they all have to be replaced. Looks like you will need an extension cord to plug stuff in to your power points, strange they have done that, swear it is a full time job with checking and following all this stuff up... Your ensuite shower looks huge. Your back fence will go up soon I would say, we have plenty of sand if you want some:) Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC. 171Jul 05, 2013 9:06 pm We had a few minor issues at pre-plaster nothing major, the only one I can't tell if it was rectified is in the roof, but ill get the inspector to check it out at pre-handover. The points are marked like that on the drawings so it's "my fault" for not checking it! Yeah because I've been building houses for years and I just love putting power points so high I need a scissor lift to get to them!! I think we need to put in the request for the fences? I got a request form from Bisinella but it states we need the certificate if occupancy first?? Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC. 175Jul 09, 2013 12:37 pm The place is looking awesome Nickvee... somehow I had strayed away from your thread for a while there. Love the garage & front door. The colours work really well together. What stage are you at now? Any idea of a settlement/PCI date? We hit our 3 month maintenance period date last week and I got a letter saying they would call me about an appointment... but I still haven't heard anything. Thinking maybe I should call and harass them? and STILL waiting on Opticomm.... they are by far the worst company I have had to deal with over the phone!! Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC. 176Jul 09, 2013 1:00 pm Thanks Laura! We are still waiting on PCI, it should be soon considering the carpets have been installed. The painter still needs to come back and do a lot of touch ups and the shower screens still need to be installed. What's the hold up with Opticomm? Do you have many issues that need to fixed? Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC. 180Jul 09, 2013 1:22 pm Thanks Hamilton and Bluesuede! We are not particularly fond of our vanities, we should have broken up the colors and the sinks are not really nice either, but, we can always change them later on or add some color ... The kitchen will have a glass splash back and the oven an fridge will break it up too i guess.. HANGING to see what the floor boards will look like, that will dramatically change the look This certainly doesn't look good. I would be engaging with an independent inspector to have a look at this.
