Painting Started! 143Jun 09, 2013 8:38 pm LMcNish89 Yeah the rug is cool! Nice furniture. Such a relief for you, glad it all sorted out. Does that mean flooring next? Thank you Laura and 1rocky! Tiling is next, not sure when floorboards go in though, i assume that would be last with the carpet? Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC. Painting Started! 144Jun 10, 2013 12:01 pm Have you been out this weekend nickvee? Just wondering if you've got anyone working over the weekend. I'm blown away that at my place they've got guys on site working all weekend - even today on the public holiday! Completed a knock down and rebuild in northern Melbourne. Handover completed 27/09/2013 and now moved in. Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC. Painting Started! 145Jun 10, 2013 1:58 pm We had the painter there yesterday he seems like a pretty friendly bloke, was there on his own but he said that he generally works with his son..he had painted the ceiling (rolled not sprayed), cornice and doors..He wasn't going to be there today as he was doing patch up at other places.. Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC. Painting Started! 148Jun 17, 2013 9:26 pm Looking great! I'm jealous! Ours just seems to be going soooo slooowly at the moment. plus they're going to have to pull some bricks down. Oh joy. Completed a knock down and rebuild in northern Melbourne. Painting Started! 150Jun 17, 2013 9:30 pm When the scaffolding came down and the bricks were cleaned it was made apparent that there was a section with courses of bricks that weren't laid straight. Plus the scaffolding has taken out chunks of brick in various places. Completed a knock down and rebuild in northern Melbourne. Handover completed 27/09/2013 and now moved in. Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC. Painting Started! 151Jun 17, 2013 9:35 pm Bloody hell! Hopefully they fix up and you don't get any noticeable difference in color with your mortar! I ain't very happy with our mortar, it's ok, but it's not as white as i wished it had been.. On the display, it is really white, when ours dries it looks cream, which i can handle - but when wet, it looks a horrible yukky yellow.. I specified it was to look the same as they display and they said "as long as the picture you are showing us is a Burbank display, the mortar will be the same", clearly it is not... Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC. Painting Started! 152Jun 17, 2013 9:45 pm Yeah we really weren't happy when we noticed!! The missus and I stood there and looked at each other "is it just me or is that..." "Omg yes its curved!" At least they agreed with us, so that's something. I was dreading an argument and having to live with it the next 30 years! Sorry to hear your mortar isn't right! Maybe if we get some dry weather and it gets a chance to dry out properly it will whiten up? I really notice a big difference in the mortar on all the wetter parts of the brickwork at my place. But the inside of your place seems to be going great guns. Have you got a proposed handover date advised? Completed a knock down and rebuild in northern Melbourne. Tiling Started! 153Jun 17, 2013 9:58 pm We had a few bricks that were curved too, but they actually ripped out the mortar when it was still wet and repaired then. Those few days we had a about a month ago dried up the mortar nicely, on the darker brick it always looks great, but there is something about the lighter brick that brings out the yellow..i can deal with it knowing it won't always look yellow I guess..but still the display has the same brick and even when dry it looks very stark white.. No exact date yet, but our SS said about 8 weeks (about 2 weeks ago)...if they stay at this rate I'm betting about mid July Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC. Tiling Started! 154Jun 17, 2013 10:29 pm The lighter bricks does make mortar look a different colour, ours is just the standard grey mortar but looks looks more white against the darker brick. Good stuff you be moving in soon, PD have till end of October for us... We caught 2 guys taking our bricks at 6pm on a Saturday night two weekends ago, they said PD had told them to pick them up to use on another job. We said that's strange since PD know we want them, fine if that's the case, but if we ring them and that is not true we have wrote down your car registration....they then started putting the bricks back!!! Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC. Tiling Started! 155Jun 18, 2013 10:39 am Looks great Nick, flying along! Our SS said we could keep the leftover bricks too, we had a whole pile left but they were gone within a week of them finishing. Don't know who took them. But we did manage to save a few roof tiles and they left all the paint tubs in the cupboard, so we have something at least. I'm really thinking about painting this place... But I know I will regret it as soon as I start. We finally got our blinds in last week.... thank god! I do not recommend Victory at all, they were hopeless! 5 months it took... and they said 8 weeks. Except the guy that installed them was awesome and made it all work. (ie. the blinds were too short in width and you can see the architrave... Apparently she called us to let us know but didn't get an answer so that was it!) Anyway, sorry for taking over your thread. I like your tiling and can't wait to see the place finished. No need to apologise Laura, any piece of advice is a benefit to us, pretty useless of them though..we paid to get the Holland blinds put in at our colour selection so that's one thing we don't have to worry about for a while, eventually we want the wooden shutters, eventually.. We wanted to paint our features walls before moving in, I don't see this happening though and we are thinking of using wallpaper for this instead, just some subtle color..we would also love to do another coat, 1 sealer and 1 top coat just isn't enough, but we couldn't justify the extra $1400 they wanted for another coat!! Also, we found these: http://www.surrounding.com.au/vintage-globe-with-base/ And want to use them as our feature lights over the kitchen - they are amazing!! Corz: haha they got busted! Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC. Tiling Started! 158Jun 18, 2013 11:05 pm I would be definitely be asking, considering they never asked you for a preferred colour. I think they are the same as our laundry tiles:) It is non stop triple checking everything does your head in!!! Your bathroom tiles look great.. This certainly doesn't look good. I would be engaging with an independent inspector to have a look at this.
