Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC. 181Jul 09, 2013 1:39 pm Looks great! I am trying to get a hold of Opticomm on the phone... last time I called I was on hold for an hour and a half (from 9th place to 3rd in the queue) and it just cut off... what a waste of time! I just don't have all day to be waiting for them to answer. And they weren't helpful the last few times I actually spoke to someone. So no connection yet. Sick of paying $50 a month for 3g of data with a crap connection! There are a few things on our maintenance list... 1. Several cracks in our cornices around the kitchen - 1 of them is pretty bad, and there is also a hairline crack in the ceiling where they "repaired" an old issue. Our SS initially said hairline cracks are normal and they won't fix it... but i'll be fighting for it! If it's like this after 3 months what will it be like in 3-30 years? 2. Master bedroom window is leaking water at the bottom... I don't know where it is coming in, but there is little pools of water on the sill. Didn't even notice it at first cos I had our blinds down for a while. 3. Sharp spikes on the edges of all carpets, really painful to walk on! 4. Lots of sh!tty plaster/paint jobs but I doubt these will be fixed 5. Our bath tap doesn't get constant flow... only a trickle... I can't use it at all! 6. Most taps drip, probably need a tighten I guess 7. The weather seal on our front door sometimes gets caught when closing it 8. The TV point in our main family room doesn't work, it was tested by the guy who installed the aerial And a few others I'm sure but that's off the top of my head! Just can't wait for winter to be over so I can do more of our back landscaping and weeding out the front! As for the decking... hello tax return Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC. 182Jul 09, 2013 1:57 pm Hairline cracks are inevitable unfortunately, they know this and it's why they don't cover it.. It sucks that our soil is so sh!t...Make sure you don't let water pool around the foundations as this can make it worse.. I noticed a hairline crack in the laundry and we haven't even moved in yet!! Did you notice the crappy plaster/paint job before you moved in? Ours is horrible and i am going to make them fix this before final inspection, otherwise i won't be accepting it..I not asking for perfection, just a decent job... I noticed our master bedroom had condensation that was pooling around the internal sill too, this might be common because we are south facing...i think.. our bricks underneath our master window are always wet too.. Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC. 183Jul 11, 2013 1:43 pm Just spoke to PD and my inspection is booked for next month... so have a few weeks to find more things wrong with the place! I have called Opticomm many times over the last few days and keep getting cut off... I leave messages, they don't call back. Might try iinet next and see what we can do. Losing patience! Anyway, saw the painter at yours again today as I drove past. Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC. 189Jul 20, 2013 9:26 am nickvee Thanks Bluesuede! How is everything going with your house now? Has your painter finished his masterpiece? Getting there slowly. Painter, while slow, seems to be doing a really nice job. I think he has been told to stop smoking inside as the butts seem to have gone and it no longer smells like an ashtray. Tiling has now been all done - was surprised driving by at 11:15pm one night to see the guy in there doing all the grouting! Electrical fitout has just been done so we are getting closer. Construction manager has told us we should be aiming for handover next month - cant wait! Completed a knock down and rebuild in northern Melbourne. Handover completed 27/09/2013 and now moved in. I hope they can fix the ensuite mistake asap Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC. We have a driveway!! 197Aug 06, 2013 8:54 am nickvee Thanks Bluesuede! How is everything going with your place? Not bad - our driveway is supposed to happen this week too! Little disappointed that 3 days went by last week with no activity on site at all given there is so little left to do! But anyway, carpets going in, gas meter went in yesterday, PCI is supposed to be imminent - was told it was likely this week but I'm guessing next week (hopefully!) given the delay last week. Time will tell... Completed a knock down and rebuild in northern Melbourne. Handover completed 27/09/2013 and now moved in. Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC. We have a driveway!! 198Aug 06, 2013 9:11 am Same here! Apparently we are just waiting on a mixer for the shower, site clean and a clean inside..Nothing was done last week either except for the gas meter.. Hope the weather holds out for your driveway.. Tradies came to install wardrobe + cupboard joinery today and did a massive wheel spin all the way up the muddy drive spraying mud into the garage and up the garage internal wall. Sooner a stop can be put to that the better! Completed a knock down and rebuild in northern Melbourne. Handover completed 27/09/2013 and now moved in. Re: Our Burbank Lukin 2800 - Lara VIC.
