Is anyone else here building in the part of Honeywood that requires bushfire conditions? The land agent did let us know when we signed up that it would be required, but he said it would cost is $4000 - $6000 MAX... well Mr Land Agent, I have a PS item in my costings for $12,000!! Its a BAL of 12.5. EEEP! I emailed our bushfire assessor and he confirmed the BAL rating and said it would cost us about the same as what has been put in the costings. He said we would be very lucky to have it come below $10K.

We are building in Bedfordale and have a BAL of 12.5. Our builder is charging us $9675 for the extra bits and pieces needed to meet the requirements. There are a few other people on the forum from WA with the same BAL ratings and their costs are fairly similar.

Victoria must be different because ours hasbt cost that much... our first BAL come back at 29. I queried it a little & had it redone & we got a 12.5 the second time round. The 12.5 was a max of around $7k... The 29 was going to cost an extra $10k.

soakedblonde that makes me feel a bit better. Being in Bedfordale your house will more than likely be larger than mine (I am only on 330sqm!) so fingers crossed it comes in at around $8k!
