Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our Livingstone by Porter Davis, Lara 181Oct 16, 2013 5:34 pm Awesome stuff Laura! We are waiting on some good weather to finish our landscaping..every time we get some we have something on! Oh well we'll get it done soon.. We are going to do the deck ourselves (have a Chippie in the fam)..still need to cost up material though.. Took to the footpath with the high pressure hose the other day..wow what a difference, looks like new lol...I was a bit bored :p Re: Our Livingstone by Porter Davis, Lara 182Oct 17, 2013 7:35 am Ha yeah our path is all different tones of white and brown! Sounds good... the guy we are using for the deck is Jake's cousin, he has his own business. The weather always seems best when we're busy or at work... and it's been so all over the place lately. And now I think I'm coming down with a cold Re: Our Livingstone by Porter Davis, Lara 184Dec 20, 2013 1:34 pm Hey! Yeah we have put the turf in... so the backyard is almost complete (minus some plants/trees and the battens for the pergola). I'll have to take some pics this weekend and post them! Jacob has started making a planter box too, we enquired to a few companies about making it out of colourbond to match the fence but in the end it wasn't going to work. So it'll be a timber frame with either merbau walls or just corrugated iron (preferrably the cheaper option). Couldn't be bothered with render as I have no experience making it! Luckily the heat didn't get to the new turf, plenty of water did the trick Re: Our PD Livingstone - 9 months on 185Dec 27, 2013 4:21 pm Ok time for some photos! Still a few things to do but overall the hard work is done and we got to enjoy it with everyone over Christmas. We even had a 2-night-sleepover The pergola is still awaiting more battens (timber was unavailable till mid Jan) and I am thinking of changing the layout so that they are evenly spaced apart, rather than staggered. They are purely for shade (as a pergola should be) so no we are not putting any rain cover on it. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is the front deck after we have oiled it, turned out a nice colour! http://i1355.photobucket.com/albums/q712/LMcNish89/096_zps41e4d45b.jpg The planter box my husband made, yet to be filled with veges! At least I have some herbs going now. LUCKY the soil we had out the front easily fit into it... we thought we had ordered way too much but we used it perfectly. And the feature colour is Taubmans 'Sand and sage'. Re: Our PD Livingstone - 18 months on 192Oct 13, 2014 3:48 pm It's been a long time since I've been on the site... We have been slow to get the backyard done but are now making the most of this gorgeous spring weather. We have planted a variety of trees and shrubs along the back and side... and a couple of ornamental grape vines along the pergola... which will be fantastic for summer shade and winter sunshine! Can't wait to see it grow. We will be finishing the back in the next week or so and I'll post some more pics. Plus our baby boy is now 6 weeks old So plenty of time at home to enjoy! This certainly doesn't look good. I would be engaging with an independent inspector to have a look at this.
