Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 26, 2012 8:26 pm We are building the Wellstead elegance with Blueprint Homes, the brickie started today and I am so happy with DH's choice of bricks Hope this link works There's the slab, brick load and a pic taken today. I can't believe how much the brickies have done in 1 day, I'm really pleased with everything so far. http://m1307.photobucket.com/albumview/ ... 0&newest=1 Blueprint build in Brabham, WA 2Nov 26, 2012 8:33 pm Hi busybusy. So glad you started a thread. What bricks do you have? Are they brikmakers vintage red? Will we be getting a piccie of your plan too? You can also get the image link off photobucket on the iPhone app by going into the picture and clicking the i button. You click on the image URL type thing that comes up and then go into your homeone or tapatalk and click paste. It's a bit time consuming of course if you have more than one pic. Look forward to following your build. Re: Blueprint build in Brabham, WA 3Nov 26, 2012 8:45 pm Ok let's see if I did this right! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ That should be the plan lol Yes they are vintage red, I was really unsure of them and they were DH's choice (he's a brickie by trade) and I thought they'd look really old fashioned or too country sort of style but I really really like them. The kids were so amazed when we pulled up today, yesterday there was nothing and today there were window frames up and bricks and it was all a bit exciting for them. Re: Blueprint build in Brabham, WA 6Nov 26, 2012 9:33 pm Love it! What a massive house. Your kitchen alone is huge. Yeah your hubby made a great choice. I have been unsure of the vintage red but DH loves them and seeing the awesome job your brickes have done makes me want them too. Are you having render on the front? Do you know what colours you will be having if so? Re: Blueprint build in Brabham, WA 7Nov 26, 2012 9:44 pm No render on the front but the front wall of that bedroom 3 is a random limestone wall, DH will lay those blocks over Christmas so it'll be a bit different to break up those red bricks. The roof is monument and the driveway will be silver (I think, it could be grey!). We did choose a port colored front door but DH wants to change that now to more of a dune colour. The house is pretty big, I looooove how big the kitchen is. I'm always in the kitchen and I love cooking so DH let me have the 2 ovens which I was so happy about, so he can choose all the outside colours and everything and I'll just go along with him and secretly stress that it's going to look dumb lol Blueprint build in Brabham, WA 8Nov 26, 2012 9:48 pm Sounds wonderful. Looking forward to seeing it progress. Re: Blueprint build in Brabham, WA 9Nov 26, 2012 9:54 pm So am I, we are renting a tiny house about 5 minutes away so I go to the block all the time because it's on the way to the shops and just past DDs school. There are a few things I don't like about the layout - I would have loved the laundry off the kitchen and a bigger master bedroom, but it's a huge step up from our last house so I'm really happy. Re: Blueprint build in Brabham, WA 11Nov 27, 2012 10:25 am They've really taken care to lay those bricks, that's for sure. I was worried all the white ones would be clumped together or laid randomly but it looks excellent with that pattern. DH told the brickies how pleased we were. I'm jealous of your holiday Kat, so so jealous! Once you get back it'll be all systems go! I am worried about the blue ones being all clumped together. Hope I get good brickies like yours. Re: Blueprint build in Brabham, WA 15Nov 27, 2012 5:27 pm Love it busybusy!! Out of curiosity, would the builder have let your husband lay all the bricks (just thinking would it save you heaps $$) or would the credit have been measly? We have heard of tilers who built and it wasn't worth tiling their own bathrooms, due to the tiny credit the builder offered! I love your plan- HUGE kitchen!!! Plenty of bench to pay for haha Build Again I have a thread, feel free to read! https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=57912 Re: Blueprint build in Brabham, WA 16Nov 27, 2012 6:26 pm Nah he's been off the tools for a few years now, he's got a desk job these days plus he studies so he wouldn't have had the time (or the energy!). I got a price for the upgrade, I thought it was really reasonable so I've emailed it to DH and he hasn't replied so I guess we'll be talking when he gets home haha Re: Blueprint build in Brabham, WA 18Nov 27, 2012 10:23 pm Smithieswife I was at the house today and After reading your comment it was the first time I'd really even noticed the blueish bricks, how bad is that haha! The white ones really stood out to me, happy to say they have laid them with just as much care today
I took this standing in the middle of xxkatxx's block Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ What they did today: laundry slider, powder room, kids bathroom, DS's bedroom Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I took heaps more but I don't want to bore you!! I waited til I knew the brickies would be gone so I didn't look lame taking all these photos lol Re: Blueprint build in Brabham, WA 19Nov 27, 2012 10:27 pm Thanks AC27, we are really happy with it. Bed 2 will be DH's study, the blueprint display house in caversham is the Wellstead so we're lucky ER can just drive 5 mins away and walk through on the weekend and get a real feel for the house. Re: Blueprint build in Brabham, WA 20Nov 27, 2012 10:47 pm I was going to ask if it was a display because the plan looked familiar! That display had my favourite kitchen!! I think it is almost as big as our whole house will be!! Looking forward to watching the progress Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17602 Hi, did you get any money from insurance? if you did, does it match what you've already paid the builders? 3 9565 |
