The measurements are 2060x1170mm. We made the shoerack to go in the end section. The left side is my side and the right my DP's. We brought the chests of drawers online which saved us a lot of money compared to getting something custom made, and they actually fit perfectly! We use the hanging rails above these for shirts and other shorter things and there's enough room at the end of this for full length hanging. Love it Re: Show us your walk in robe! 5Nov 25, 2012 8:43 pm That's fantastic kjw and it's actually exactly what I was thinking of doing. Can I ask where you got the shoerack from? I got one online a couple of months ago for my shoes (DH's won't fit when all mine are on lol) but it was horrible quality, ended up falling apart and I had to get a refund! I'd also like to know the name of the online store you got those drawers from because they look really good. Ours is only 2300x1640 so not too much more space than you, probably will have a similar look! 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Show us your walk in robe! 6Nov 25, 2012 8:55 pm Stellabella, I actually brought a cheap shoe rack from a sale website and it turned out to be terrible and kept falling over. So we basically made our own (turns out DP is a good little handy man!) so he put the frame together himself and we used the metal rod inserts from the cheap shoe rack for the shelves. The drawers I brought from dealsdirect.com.au they're not the greatest quality and took a bit of work to put together as they come flat packed. But they do the job for now Re: Show us your walk in robe! 7Nov 25, 2012 9:36 pm Damn! I didn't think of keeping the poles, what a good idea. Don't know how handy DH is lol. I swore I would never by flatpack again, we just moved out of our rental and got rid of the last of our flatpack furniture, but I suppose for something that will stay hidden it will be ok, and yours actually look good! I wonder if we will see any SATC-inspired wardrobes... 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Show us your walk in robe! 9Nov 25, 2012 9:53 pm stellabella I wonder if we will see any SATC-inspired wardrobes... Haha that's the dream! I would definitely be jealous and would love to see them if there are any!! As for the flat packs, I swore after these ones I'd never buy any again but it's just so much cheaper! However if you have a look in some of the cheaper furniture stores you can buy chests of drawers just like ours, only already made. I don't really see the point in spending heaps on something that nobody else see's, so maybe that could be an option? It would be nice to be able to afford something custom made...hopefully next time! Re: Show us your walk in robe! 10Nov 26, 2012 8:53 pm Love it Kayla - ours will be a similar sized so it was great to see yours! Anyone else going to share?? Does anyone know where you can get cubed shelves more like this size: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ But most of the ones are larger cubes, like this size, which are just too big for shoes: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Any suggestions? When ours came back with the drawings for the walk in pantry we floated the possibility of them also doing the WIR. Still waiting for it to be installed (hopefully today!) but were absolutely impressed with the design and the price was pretty reasonable for a custom installed robe. Ended up with "his and her" sides with plenty of room for the DW to house her collection of shoes and handbags. Re: Show us your walk in robe! 16Nov 30, 2012 11:37 am Thanks Leanne! Atom_ute, that's actually a really good idea. I've just emailed the cabinet maker to see if they'd mind doing a quote up for me. Hope you will post some pics here or on your own thread once completed! 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Show us your walk in robe! 17Dec 13, 2012 8:10 pm This is our WIR. Pretty much exactly what I want, but we won't have quite as much width as that. Great inspiration though!
