Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 18, 2012 8:44 am Does anyone know whether you need drainage plans for your building permit? I've noticed that on the covering sheet to our building permit plans the surveyor has put a dash next to "drainage drawings". We have a roof plan showing the position of downpipes and a dotted line denoting stormwater drain location but, as the house was taken off boundary and a boxgutter was deleted, it is no longer quite clear where some of the pipes are and where they are draining to. I've asked the builder a couple of times to supply this information but so far have heard nothing. I was just wondering whether there is any requirement to set out this information somewhere or do you just have to dig for yourself? Re: Drainage plans for a building permit? 2Dec 18, 2012 6:45 am The location of pipes would not normally be shown but this is a task for a plumber and drainer. These people know the rules and that is what they do for a living. You are not contemplating digging? Re: Drainage plans for a building permit? 3Dec 18, 2012 7:02 am Well the builder expects us to! He has told us it is our job to pipe the condensate from our gas hot water heater to a legal point of discharge. He also buried the ball valve of our rainwater tank so the rainwater tank is going to have to be raised and probably moved and it is attached to a charged system so it would be good to know where everything is! No, not yet. It’s currently being assessed by our building surveyor 4 6326 Looking to start the journey of becoming an owner builder in SA.
