Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Boutique Homes 1782Feb 08, 2016 10:43 am Went to colour appointment - we are starting over via new pricing, they showed us that approximately they deleted things costing 19K but price reduced by 24K and they were happy to give us 5K credit. We decided to start over because they didn't want to recalculate our PWC per item so we can see how much exactly would be price difference per our specification and because most of what was downgraded in the base price we don't do anyway, like flooring we don't do, 6 star rating also not really applicable as we upgraded all windows to double glazing, glass splashback we upgraded to window, other things are minor, like flyscreens, garage door options, dishwasher and microwave. Will see what we end up with, saving couple of thousands or paying couple of thousands more, hopefully saving:) Re: Boutique Homes 1783Feb 08, 2016 11:07 am d_a_ya Went to colour appointment - we are starting over via new pricing, they showed us that approximately they deleted things costing 19K but price reduced by 24K and they were happy to give us 5K credit. A 20k+ difference definitely worth a try. We don't do double glazing and would apply window film as needed after send from tapatalk Re: Boutique Homes 1785Feb 08, 2016 12:39 pm digitalnash JP79 Absolutely heartbroken right now We got our keys on Wednesday, started moving some stuff in and sometime (we think) on Thursday night, some arsehole(s) have broken in, ripped our oven out of the wall and dumped it on the dining room floor and made off with our microwave The house had been sitting like it was for nearly 3 weeks and this happens the very next day after we take ownership......devastated Hopefully there's been no damage to the oven and it can just go back in (after some repair work to the cabinetry). Oh geez - really sorry to hear about that JP79. That sounds like it was an inside job, if you know what I mean... =/ Seems particularly strange given that it was sitting like that for nearly 3 weeks, and yet the day after you get the keys... yeeaaah. I'm getting my NBN connection sorted out BEFORE I get my keys for this very reason, so that I can go and install a wireless security camera or two on the day we get our keys, as we know that we won't be moving in for a few days afterwards, and want to make sure there's no 'inside information' type stuff happening. At least, if someone does break in, we'll have all the security footage for the police to show. Is it cheaper to do the camera after? We are considering to do it after house build but now I'm worried if we need to do it as soon as possible. $3200 for 4 cameras feel too much from Argus...I'm thinking just doing the wiring send from tapatalk Re: Boutique Homes 1786Feb 08, 2016 1:07 pm EN70 try the Arlo wireless cam.thats what im going to get. --------------------------------------------- Building a St. Tropez 25 - Boutique Homes Aurora Estate Wollert - Victoria Re: Boutique Homes 1787Feb 08, 2016 2:40 pm 7th_Cavalry EN70 try the Arlo wireless cam.thats what im going to get. Do you have a contact number for your electrician? https://letsbuildwithboutique.wordpress.com Re: Boutique Homes 1792Feb 08, 2016 4:10 pm johanna.ram Hi Melvinglenncallejo, that alarm system sounds reasonable? Do you have a contact number for your electrician? https://letsbuildwithboutique.wordpress.com If you opt for security systems from the builder, the house will be secure from the day keys are handed over. This was the main reason for me opting for the security system from the builder. Buy a decent camera kit for around $500 and run the cables yourself. Pretty much plug and play. Watch a few YouTube videos for help if required Re: Boutique Homes 1796Feb 08, 2016 4:34 pm Hi, Everyone - I've been looking at alarms and CCTV. The average price for a complete install of 4 CCTV is around $1,500 to $1,800. A higher resolution camera will be more than $2 to 3K as compared to Argus $3.3K price tags which is just a the basic camera cost of around 1,500. Alarms should be around $600 to 1,000 (make sure to include panic button to your bedroom). Here a website you can look at (If you live in Melbourne) or you can just google it: http://www.cctvmelbourne.net.au/ Some of the advise are to place a sensor activated light (for outdoors) near your camera to illuminate thieves (this will help camera give you a better picture). For wireless cams : The only available is Arlo wireless camera (which you can look at the actual product as they are available in both JB and Harvey) they come around $650 for a 3 camera system then just add some more cameras (they are completely wireless) no power required as they are battery powered(only issue is you have to change the batteries every 2-3 months). The best cabled camera is the HICKVISION 3megapix camera not sure the price tag yet getting a quote. Put also bolts in your sliding doors and window locks (ask your local locksmith) on what is his advise for your home. The best security is a dog (if you have one) good on you --------------------------------------------- Building a St. Tropez 25 - Boutique Homes Aurora Estate Wollert - Victoria Re: Boutique Homes 1797Feb 08, 2016 4:51 pm @7th_cavalry thank you for the info!
