Just wondering if anyone else has used these or similar mosaic tiles, what was the quality of the finish? As I am not impressed at all. The tiles are chipped, they have not been laid straight, the gap between tiles is not consistent and the caulking has mixed in with the grout. Would you be happy with this finish? Re: Boutique Homes 3284Jun 01, 2017 4:28 pm icat2000 No I would not be happy with the quality. What the point in spending $$$ on nice tiles if they going to do a crummy job laying the tiles. Yes. Also we not only paid extra for these tiles, we paid extra to have tiles in this area. As normally they are only under the cabinets. Do you have issues with the tiles in general? The job overall I'm not happy with. Chips in most tile cuts, throughout the house. Re: Boutique Homes 3285Jun 01, 2017 5:02 pm I don't have a problem with the tiles. However, I'm not a tiler, I don't know how hard or easy they are to lay. If it was me I would be asking for them to be ripped up an redone by different tiles if possible. Re: Boutique Homes 3287Jun 01, 2017 5:08 pm icat2000 Done by different tiler. Sorry on regional country Victorian train and the reception is spotty. Thats fine. I have requested for them to check it but they are stating it is within tolerance. So I'm going to push back and see what they say. But at this stage I'm not going to sign off on the house. Re: Boutique Homes 3289Jun 01, 2017 5:11 pm icat2000 Ask them if they would tolerate that standard in their display homes. Yep also stated that. I have been to more of their display homes and the standard is much higher. I even stated if they are happy for this to be a representation of Boutique Homes quality. We're in the process of choosing builders and Boutique is on our shortlist. Reading through this thread, there seems to be a number of people with issues which doesn't really inspire confidence in the quality of the builds. Whereabouts are you building if I may ask? We are building Geelong way. I suppose you have to look also at how they resolve issues that they have. We've had a couple of issues but they have rectified them very well. There will always be issues along the way with every builder. That being said it's definitely great hat u are doing you research before deciding. Where are u looking at building? I thought I had posted a response yesterday Good to hear that Boutique are responsive to fixing issues when they arise. I don't know if it's because there are relatively fewer builds with Boutique or whether I've spent a disproportionate time on this thread, but my observations is that there seems to be more issues with Boutique builds. Having said that, I completely understand that issues happen but what's important is whether the builder will rectify them or not. We've built with Carlisle previously and we were generally happy, there were a few things that we weren't pleased with from both a quality and process perspective. We looked at custom but was too far out of our price range Re: Boutique Homes 3295Jun 02, 2017 6:05 pm thellama mj2016 thellama [quote="mj2016"][quote="thellama"][quote="darrenedwards_henley"][quote="icat2000"]Ask them if they would tolerate that standard in their display homes. Hi did you manage signing the contract with a land that hasn't titled yet? The contract only gives you 45 days to provide evidence of finance (mortgage) and land ownership, both of these impossible to obtain without the land titled. I bought a land in Aurora Estate (Victoria) due to settle in November, and I am scheduled for contract signing with Boutique Homes next week. Re: Boutique Homes 3298Jun 13, 2017 9:04 am yoyohv Hello! We signed contracts a couple of weeks ago and land doesn't title until September. They just said they will ask for that info once the land titles. No issue at all Good luck with it all Re: Boutique Homes 3299Jun 13, 2017 10:58 am mj2016 yoyohv Hello! Hi did you manage signing the contract with a land that hasn't titled yet? I am just a bit worried signing a contract that states the opposite (that we should provide that evidence within 45 days). Re: Boutique Homes 3300Jun 13, 2017 12:09 pm yoyohv mj2016 yoyohv Hello! We signed PWC last September and our land was supposed to title in March. We signed HIA contract in December and our land (also in Aurora ) is now scheduled to title in August. We've only just submitted final finance application and the bank is valuing the new build now. Hopefully we'll get the title just before our 12-month price hold expires! 10 15816 Ask for references and speak to them. If they are defensive or try to avoid the request, walk. 1 75511 |
