Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Boutique Homes 3362Nov 13, 2017 12:25 pm Hope everyone has been well. Did anyone else use an independent inspector? If yes do you have recommendation? I was going to go with Darbecca but the prices they quote me was sooo expensive. I compared it to my friend who is building a similar house in the same estate and my quote was 30% more so I thought I’d ask around different companies for quote. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Re: Boutique Homes 3363Nov 15, 2017 2:41 pm vinx1127 Hi Guys, I'm tossing between Seville 23 and Oslo 23. Any recommendations? Thanks Its subjective and heavily depends on your priority and preferences: For me, I liked Oslo better because of: - Long kitchen/ living area (seville living area is too congested) - larger WIL - slightly bigger wardrobes in bedrooms Cons: - No outdoor area ( but if you have space behind your house, you can built yourself a pergola after handover) Providence 32 - Boutique Homes Lendlease Aurora Phase 5 Re: Boutique Homes 3364Nov 22, 2017 1:20 pm REFER A FRIEND If anyone is looking to build with Boutique and needs a "Refer a Friend" we are happy to help. Happy to answer any questions anyone may have. We built the Barcelona 26 in 2016 - been in our home a little over a year now so can also give feedback on post handover communication and getting items fixed Re: Boutique Homes 3365Nov 22, 2017 1:25 pm vinx1127 Hi Guys, I'm tossing between Seville 23 and Oslo 23. Any recommendations? Thanks My advice think of how you will use the space and what works with your lifestyle. For us the fact the Oslo didnt have an alfresco turned us off but I did love the floor plan. Personally I love the Seville and having a theatre/family room at the front of the house. I also like the fact you can't see through to the backyard from the front door but that is my personal preference. Have you made a choice yet? Best to think of all the upgrades/extras you will need before your PWC they don't like to change things. Any questions shoot me an inbox Happy to swap details for refer a friend if you like! Re: Boutique Homes 3366Nov 22, 2017 1:32 pm Hi all, i have some questions regarding your Boutique plans. Is there anything to lookout for and things you have missed on the plans but have gone to construction and been built incorrectly or not as you wanted? Looking forward to hearing your answers. Thanks! Re: Boutique Homes 3367Nov 28, 2017 9:39 am epitome Hi all, i have some questions regarding your Boutique plans. Is there anything to lookout for and things you have missed on the plans but have gone to construction and been built incorrectly or not as you wanted? Looking forward to hearing your answers. Thanks! Hello epitome, My house is still on paper ( not built yet) But to answer your question, I had lot of errors in the initial draft that was provided by Boutique...like.. - wrong window type - less shelve partition in kitchen cupboard ( 1 partition instead of 2 in display home) - the window not center aligned to the room - missing partition in wardrobe - wrong position of gaspoint in the alfresco plan - wrong front door. I highlighted the errors much before the contract signing stage, but Boutique didn't correct it, but added as variation in contract. So it up to us, to make sure the variations are there in the final drawings. Always watch out for the materials and colors that's being used for door frame, window frame, door type, door finish, door design, material finish ( matt/ gloss), room height, door height etc. Also make sure your upgrads are available/ suitable in your home. Eg: wide front door, might not be suitable for your facade technically. The extra wide door will be there in your pwc and color contract, but there is a chance that only in the final drawing stage, draftsman conveys the bitter truth to you. Often people console themselves if they see 'as displayed' in house plan, especially if you are inspired by their display home. But that will not protect you. Please make sure, you request the color selection addenda of the display home you are after and make sure the same colors/ finish/ materials are there in your color selection addenda. Also make sure your plan is perfect. The subcontractor will build what ever which is there in the plan. If your are expecting something else and its not 'written' in addenda, contract or plan, its your problem, not Boutique's. Getting my first home done with them and have signed the PWC whilst waiting for the next steps. Really excited and reading the forums seems like its a mixed experience. I am building in Melbourne Northern suburbs. I know its a long journey and looking forward to it !! My Fixed site costs have been quoted as $22,000 for a 440Sqm nealry flat block. Sounds reasonable ? Soil tests are ordered. Would be great to have the assistance from the forum members throughout the journey !! To start with have couple of questions - 1. What is the feedback about Darbecca both service wise and charges wise. I am planning to get them for the project but not sure about the costs involved as well us members feedback. 2. At this stage I have excluded these packages from Boutique's scope - Driveway, Landscaping, Cooling. Thanks a lot !! Iconic is Clipsal's new range and I have been told by my known to electrician that the trade prices are not that different but the Iconic has many new intelligent features specially the dimmers and many options with the faceplates. They still use Clipsal Classic as standard, but Iconic has replaced the Clipsal Slimline series for upgrades I’ve been quoted $11.20 per switch/face place upgrade, up from $8 for the Clipsal Slimline Re: Boutique Homes 3374Jan 09, 2018 10:18 am Ozshaz Anyone has recommendation for a concreter in Melbourne North area ? I am looking to get some quotes for driveway and plain concrete path. Thanks ! Can’t help with any recommendations unfortunately. I’d just jump onto * and get quotes that way Re: Boutique Homes 3375Jan 09, 2018 10:21 am thellama Ozshaz thellama Has anyone upgraded to the Clipsal Iconic range of wall/face plates? I was thinking to that way as well but was not sure if they would respond as I am just in the initial stages of the construction with no site visits planned for them. Not sure if they would quote just based on plans. Just wondering what would be the normal /Sqm rate for exposed aggregate and plain concrete. It does look better than Classic. Time will tell if it’s worth it (we haven’t built yet) Re: Boutique Homes 3378Jan 09, 2018 10:42 am Ozshaz thellama Ozshaz Anyone has recommendation for a concreter in Melbourne North area ? I got a few quotes for demolition even though I enquired about 6 months in advance. Give it a whirl as it can’t hurt Re: Boutique Homes 3379Jan 10, 2018 6:07 pm Just want to check if it is normal to pay huge lump sum if you go over the price protection with Botique. Other builder offer 500-2000/month if you title got delayed whereas with Botique they dont price any indication. Other builder offer 500-2000/month if you title got delayed whereas with Botique they dont price any indication. Boutique has made it normal. I had to pay a huge amount. Every other builder i know of has a solid price per month policy and with Boutique, it's whatever they ask for. Quite Disappointing.. 10 15701 Ask for references and speak to them.
