Out of interest what are you planning to do in terms of curtains/blinds for the high windows in the master bedroom? We're building the Escala facade and those high windows are a bit tricky when it comes to window dressings. Building the Barcelona with Boutique Homes - construction due to commence approx. Our only options (from my understanding) is melamine or thermolaminate. The reviews on thermo are not in the least bit encouraging so we've selected the melamine which means we won't have a wrapped finish, and the edge will be somewhat visible. I'm a little nervous about what it is going to look like. Such a shame that Boutique don't offer 2-pak or another type of matt wrapped finish. Does anyone have any pictures of what the melamine edge looks like? Is it super noticeable? If you've had it installed, do you regret it at all? In fact my brother in law is changing his from white to mirror as well. Cleaning it is not a problem, nothing a paper towel and a bit of vinegar can't fix. Makes the area look bigger as well. I actually said to hubby, "Dont hate me but what do you think about a mirror splashback". Especially as it will reflect the garden and no matter what it is, glass, tiles, mirror - it still needs cleaning and I would have thought mirror is easier than tiles with grout. Agree mirror is easier to clean if you don't have a husband like mine who loves to fry bacon Re: Boutique Homes 2620Jul 22, 2016 3:07 pm skycloud Hoping to gain some insights - why do we see so many 5 star reviews full of praise on product review which doesn't seem to corroborate with the experience people share in this forum? not with just Boutique but Carlisle etc. I know that builders offer vouchers/ ipad etc. for the reviews but is that the only reason? I find that, generally speaking, it's those who are unhappy who make the most noise which is then amplified by others to generate the impression that many people are unhappy with a certain product or company. Those who are happy (like me - generally speaking because I accept that nothing is perfect in life) tend to be stingy with compliments Yes, there have been the occasional communication lapses. Yes, sometimes things that have been earlier agreed upon have not been acted upon. At the end of the day, Boutique does make a genuine effort to make good what needs to be made good and I acknowledge them being upfront about the process. I'm happy with the build, the quality of the build thus far. I am happy with both my Site Supervisors and my Client Liaison (though she tends to forget things once in a while). My private inspector is very impressed with the quality of the home. He frequently tells me that it's such a joy to inspect a Boutique property and that I've made a wise decision. 10 15745 Ask for references and speak to them.
