Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 06, 2008 4:14 pm Hi all,
Ive been watching these forums for a while and decided to finally ask for some advise. Me and my wife are about to build the Hamilton 34 and just had our appointment with National Tiles who have to do our wet areas. Im not sure whether i should get National Tiles to do my whole house or arrange my own tiles/tiler. The problem i have is if i get my own tiler, i am worried they wont be able to match the floor tiles of the house to the wet area tiles National put in? Is it possible to get Porter Davis to credit the tiling and get my own tiler for the whole job or is it just cheaper to get National Tiles to do the whole thing? Would love some assistance as im in two minds about the whole situation. Re: Tiling with Porter Davis. Hamilton 34 2Apr 06, 2008 4:41 pm PD wont let you do your own tiling to wet areas as this needs to be done before handover to get the cerfiticate of ocupancy, and they wont let your tradesmen on site either.
If National Tiles have a tile you like just do it and save the hassle, or if you decide to do it afterhandover, I cant see a reason why you cant source the same tile if you know what it is. Good Luck with your appointment. Paula Re: Tiling with Porter Davis. Hamilton 34 4Apr 06, 2008 9:39 pm why dont you buy all the tiles you need from the supplier at the same time as the tiles that pd need and then get your own tiler to supply a labour only cost, you supply the tiles Da Vinci Outdoor Living Architectural landscaping http://www.davincioutdoor.com Re: Tiling with Porter Davis. When we told Beaumont about it (M's tile supplier), they gave us a quote for the tiles that would be used for the rest of the house (discounted) and a list of tilers. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! I can see two potential problems here. One is if you’re going to get more of the house tiled with the same tiles, make sure you buy them from the same batch, otherwise there can be colour differences, and even changing the size of the tile can create colour matching problems. Two if any of the wet areas are going to be joined together by your new tiles ensure you talk to the PD tiler to make sure the tiles line up. Re: Tiling with Porter Davis. I am worried if i get my own tiler that you wouild be able to see where the two different tilers have worked. Im not sure what to do. Re: Tiling with Porter Davis. Hamilton 34 8Apr 07, 2008 3:46 pm another option is to talk to your wet area tiler and see if he is interested in doing your main floor tiling (this is what we are doing) Plantation Homes - The Meridian - http://ourmeridian.blogspot.com/ Three options 1 Ask the liquidator 2 Find another PD customer and ask the source of their report 3 Pay for new report 3 12345 Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering.
