Hi all,
We are building in North QLD and are now at the later stages of building. The houses on either side of us are both complete and so we have our two side fences - a standard (gap) fence with the posts in on our side on the western side and a no gaps fence with the flat side in on the eastern side. We were easy going about what side of fence we got and just went along with what our neighbours wanted. We do not have a back fence yet. We purchased our block before our back neighbours.
Now the blocks behind our house have titled and building has commenced. We share approx 18m of fence with one back neighbour and around 4 with the other (next to him). The neighbour we share the majority with contacted us yesterday to discuss the fence and asked if he could have the flat side in and a no gaps fence since that's what has already been started on his lot, with the overlap he shares with our eastern side neighbour (approx 5m). We are more than happy for that to happen, but the problem is the 4m we share with our other back neighbour.
The other back neighbour also already has some back fence because they share most of their rear boundary with our neighbour on the western side. Therefore they have a standard (gap) fence with posts in on their side. What we are afraid of now is that since none of us want two different sides of fence on the one boundary there is going to be a dispute. Not only that but one of our back neighbours will have a different fence on some of their boundary (either gap or no gap)...
Any ideas/opinions on this would be greatly appreciated!!
