Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 04, 2012 10:33 am Hi everyone We are looking at building the waldorf 48 with porter davis. We have looked that the displays in point cook, greenvale and berwick, we love the interiors of the ones in berwick and greenvale. We spoke to a sales person in one of the displays and we were happy that she seemed quite straight to the point but we were not happy that she gave us information that i didnt think was correct and and had to call another pd sales person to confirm my suspicions. There is SOOOOO much to think about when thinking of building (my head is spinning) can anyone give me advice on what I should be looking at to make sure everything is included in our home? thanks Re: New to building 2Nov 04, 2012 2:35 pm It's really hard to get everything, even when you've spent 9 months trying to get something underway like we have. There's a thread entitled something like "stuff I always forget", maybe have a look through that. If you go from start to end you can assemble a checklist. Then if you particularly like a display house, grab your salesperson & walk through the house & point at every single installed feature and get from them whether it's included or is an extra. Write the answers down too, as salesfolk won't always get it right. Re: New to building 3Nov 04, 2012 10:55 pm What we did is grab a sales rep and go through the house displayed, as also mentioned above, You will be surprised what is not included. Even now I've noticed the difference to the our build which is just past frame stage. There is an unexpected window where there is a wall in the display, to late now to change it but I was not something I thought about. If you think of things like lighting, front door back door designs, raised roof?? Niches that you might see in some displays are extra, feature walls are usually extra, telephone point, extra tv points.. Just to name a few, carpet in certain areas you might want to change to floorboards of tiles, splashbacks Benches ,airconditoner, the list goes on hope this helps For reference, this is the Austlii reference.
