Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 02, 2012 9:37 am Hi I am currently building a new home it's a double storey design and I am having troubles choosing the render colours I am have a woodland grey roof Wood look garage door Wood front doors At the moment I am thinking kanga as the feature colour and maybe silver elegance for the main? I am really lost. If you have any suggestions and pics I love to hear/see them Re: House render colours please help 3Nov 05, 2012 9:47 am http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u268 ... mage-1.jpg Hope this works and thanks for your reply really appreciate it Re: House render colours please help 5Nov 05, 2012 11:13 am What paint company are those colours? That's one big place. Looks like two houses merged together. The left side is so large it dominates the design. Getting the left and right side (of the entry) to balance will be the trick. I would definitely make the portico a feature. Re: House render colours please help 7Nov 05, 2012 7:24 pm We are also having woodland Grey Roof & Garage Door. We are thinking Surf Mist for our render colour, which we think looks quite nice against the grey roof.. Would love you to post a pic when it gets done. Also who are you building with of you dont mind me asking? Re: House render colours please help 8Nov 05, 2012 9:48 pm Hi, You don’t mention the window frame colour. The proportions of the house are the biggest challenge; I would go for a warm and light neutral colour covering the whole house and a medium colour for your portico, balcony uprights and possibly the garage. In my opinion Solver Kanga is a good choice however it is an interior colour. Unfortunately Solver has very few exterior colours to choose from. A similar exterior colour is Weathered Cedar 0746 and a lighter Mountain Ash 0747. I don’t know the other colour you mention. Having a neutral colour on the majority of house will allow you to change accent colours easily and you could get a different look without repainting the whole house. Do your gutter and fascia in Woodland Grey. Don’t finish two different paints on outward corners. Cheers Re: House render colours please help 9Nov 06, 2012 9:48 am Hi thanks all. I am building through great living homes. My window frames are a light silver colour not sure of the exact name. Do you know a main tender colour that is neutral that also has soft grey tones. I actually like the colour of the render before it's painted lol if I could get a colour close I would be happy. Do you think i should paint either side of the garage in the feature paint? Thanks Thanks guys Re: House render colours please help 10Nov 07, 2012 8:53 pm Hi Aleisha24, Solver has released new neutral colours in a separate neutral colours fandeck. If you have a Solver or Wattyl trade centre near you, check it out. I would use a neutral colour with no grey toning however if you’re partial to have a mono-chromatic colour scheme that means greys in different shades, tones and values, go for it. Having the garage surrounds painted in a neutral colour (not the feature paint) would bring out the timber garage door nicely however would balance the garage door colour heavy towards the right side of the house. Cheers Re: House render colours please help 12Dec 09, 2012 7:57 pm Hi Aleisha24 How did you go with your paint colour decision? We are restricted with our render colours due to the developer rules saying we had to have light or white colours! We ended up going with Solver 'Southwards' for the main render and 'Dune' for the feature areas (a contrast albeit very subtle) Our roof is Surfmist, gutters are Dune and fascias and garage door also Surfmist. We too are building with GLH and although we've had a few little hiccups along the way, but GLH have attended to them without dramas and all is progressing nicely... Good luck with your build...Look forward to your progress if you post it... I know I ran myself ragged trying to choose all the colours and tiles etc...Then you make up your mind, have your pre-start and all is good and then just a couple of months later you start to second guess yourself as it's been so long since you had pre-start...very unnerving feeling... The second storey frame on our place is going up at the moment. I was thinking of changing my colours but the choices got so hard lol So our roof is dune and our main render pelt and the feature render is kanga we have a wooden door and wood look garage? What are your thoughts on them colours? I have just had a call from the builders this week regarding our stone top colour apparently the colour we chose doesnt come in 30mm so now we have to re select painful! Hope the rest of your build goes along good for you. Do you have any pictures? Hi Alex, Thanks for the reply again. I had a chat with the builder, he said he will use primer, then hydrotec which comes with colour and sealer as well.
