Only a small update this week - but any work done is always a good thing

The half wall of plaster is currently off in the main bedroom and the mortar has been removed that had dropped down behind the bricks.

The manhole has been cut out in the laundry - but judging by the placment of that beam across it only an anorexic model would be able to squeeze through

My cornices have been delivered and are currently waiting to be installed. There were little signs written on the plaster for the builders telling them where not to install the cornices (where things had to be fixed first)

The door frame for the rear garage access door is in the process of being installed.

The house over the road from me is the same as mine and he's a bit further along so I sticky beaked in his window as well

Overall, still happy with the progress even though they've slowed down (was expecting it as I don't want them to rush the interiors )

Was having visions of the manhole - imagining a would be burglar with a bit of a gut stuck in my roof

Hopefully the bedroom wall will be replastered this week and they can get back on track - I just want them to hurry up and finish already (yes, patience was never my strongest virtue )

Never fear - I shall be going again over the weekend with camera at the ready

Wow - it seems to all happening so fast. I don't dare look at a furniture shop or even a catalogue at the moment. I want to go on a serious shop but I need to wait till it is finished and I know the budget is still intact. I am petrified all our old stuff will have to go in our brand new house!

Hopefully Furniture Galore comes through for you - if it's the one in Hoppers Crossing, they made the same promises to me but refused to fulfil the promise later, I had to take delivery when they got the stock in which was 7 weeks after ordering. They also did the same thing to a friend of mine. I'd recommend getting the manager of the store to put it in writing that they agree to hold the furniture until you are ready to take delivery, which will be when your house is ready. Unfortunately, the ordering and delivery for Furniture Galore happen through a central depot and they really don't care what the managers of their stores have said.

Yikes, methinks I'll get the manager to confirm that they'll hold it in writing. Thanks for the heads up Colleen - I have to get back to her tomorrow anyway to confirm the colour for the sofa as I forgot to take my cushion with me.

If worse comes to worse and they do stuff up, there's a branch of the store not too far from where I am at the moment and I can cram the boxes of assemble it yourself stuff in the garage and possibly the sofa and mattress - I can't get the car in there at the moment anyway due to stuff awaiting hard rubbish day. Spare room hasn't got a hope - can barely get in the door there now

Hopefully they won't stuff up DFH are still moving pretty quickly so it's possible that the house may be ready in less than 3 months but I can't get too optimistic in case something comes up.
