Yes, I'm extremely excited with the progress. Can't believe how fast it is all going - I keep waiting for the downside like they'll get to the interiors and start moving like snails :lol:

P, the bricks are Boral Tanami. They're DFH standard range and since they're the colour I was looking to get I was very a very happy little camper

The best pic I actually took yesterday wasn't of the house - it was a horse :lol:

I did a detour past Living Legends on the way home and met some of my favourite racehorses! I know, a bit nerdy :oops:

but I've been meaning to do it for ages. Nearly all of the horses came over to meet me and get a pat and scratch behind the ears, even though Doriemus tried to nibble the fur cuffs on my coat sleeve :lol:

If you like horses or horse racing I'd recommend it - it's free to get in and there's a nice old homestead to have a look at as well.

Another update and more progress has been made! The bricking has started - yippeeee

I'm pleased with the standard of work so far, everything looks pretty neat

I was pretty surprised to see that my bathtub and both shower bases have been delivered :shock:

We were going to go with them but when Boral gave us a few addresses to look at the bricks looked to orange for the look we were after...funny thing is on your house they don't look orange and look more of the shade we were after

I'm over the moon with the progress - just itching for the first home buyers grant to come through.

Had to head my bank off at the pass during the week and confirm to them in writing I wanted it to be paid to me and not into the loan. Hopefully it'll hit my account in the next few days - paying rent, mortgage, a car loan and exorbitant citylink fees at the same time is rapidly dwindling my bank account :cry:

You're lucky your bank will give you the FHOG now... I will finally get my FHOG (hopefully) sometime in the coming week. I say hopefully more because if I don't receive the FHOG, I probably also won't receive the handover cheque :shock:

(oh no I think I found the thing that will wake me up at 3.30 tomorrow morning :lol:

ETA: Just checked my bank and it turns out I have the FHOG, now I'm just trying to remember to breathe! It was exciting until I remembered that I already have plans for that money :cry:

I haven't really given my bank much choice :wink:

I confirmed with the State Revenue Office that they had sent the money to my lender, and once I found that out I faxed my lender advising them what I wanted them to do with it - can't say I not straight-forward :lol:

I also have plans for some of the money - some new furniture, gate for the side pathway, little bit of landscaping (builder at work has offered to do deck - whoo hoo!), and anything I realise that I need after I move and go d'oh! It will come in handy whilst I'm paying both rent & mortgage as if something unexpected comes up, I can cover it.

Walking through today gave me a much better view of what size the rooms are and I'm already planning where to put the furniture ::lol::

I hope your exam went well Colleen (if you're had it already). Excellent news about the gate being done this weekend so you can have your lovely doggie with you. You must be counting down the days until you can move in!

Bel, yes the bricks are tanami. I'm very happy with the way they turned out - I think if I'd use a lighter mortar it would have looked a little washed out but interesting how the ones you saw were more orangey. I'm glad I didn't get those either - not a orange fan.

Weekly update time. Not as many pics this time - I took a different camera yesterday which takes batteries and managed to use up brand new batteries within 3 shots :evil:

Needless to say, I won't be taking that thing again :evil:

I questioned my sanity as I got in my car yesterday morning and saw it was 7 degrees and I was dressed like an eskimo. Within 10 minutes of starting out it was starting to rain - which didn't stop for the rest of the day :evil:

When I got to the block there was a car parked outside my block so I had to park in front of next door's - first shot of the completed side wall of the house is taken from inside the car as the rain was belting down at this stage.

Car in front of the block seemed a bit suss as it's not my neighbours and they took off pretty quick after I arrived and they saw me enter the block

I was not impressed to see a gap in the roof tiles in the main bedroom and water pouring in - SS mentioned to me when I rang him that plastering is due to start possibly at the end of next week - now I'm really itching to get Kevin in as I'm not going to let plastering start while water is pouring in the roof!

I made the mistake of stepping out into the backyard to take a photo of the back wall bricked up and sank in mud (this is also when my camera decided to take a break :evil:

) After wiping a gallon off mud off my boots with a broken roof tile, I left some nice footprints in my future meals area :oops:

Note to self - don't go out into the backyard when it's raining and take a camera that doesn't have a mind of its own :roll:

On a funny note, after I cleaned up the worst of the mud with a stack of tissues in the car (and the passenger side mat), I went to Werribee Plaza to pay off my soft furnishings layby - you'd think they'd never seen a wet person with muddy boots in their store before :roll:

Either dedication or temporary insanity - but I did make myself feel better by spending some of my first home buyers grant by paying off TV layby (luverly new 42 inch plasma is being delivered next Saturday), a new stereo with turntable that can burn to MP3 and an AV sender so I transfer Foxtel signal to my other TV without forking out for another Foxtel point.

I was like a kid at Christmas testing all my new goodies :lol:

No handover date as yet - contract points towards September but hopefully with the rate they've been going it will be earlier. I imagine that they'll slow down quite a bit once the internals start - just have to resist temptation and not buy the furniture I want as I have nowhere to put it yet :lol:

I wonder if the people parked outside were admiring the house, or maybe building one similar - you know how they like to drive around and check out other peoples houses!! :roll:

I'm sure the roof tiles will be sorted out before the plaster is allowed on.

Pre-plaster inspection has been booked for tomorrow with Big Kev

Hopefully there's not too much wrong with the place - I only spotted a couple of the more obvious ones like gap in roof tiles and rain pouring in (have to be Blind Freddy to miss that one :roll:

) but then again I'm a complete noob when it comes to building :lol:

Are you going to be there too Dana? Then you'll have a better understanding of any issues? Also let your builder know that you are getting Kevin in to double check any rectification work (even if your not :wink:

Hehehe, I told SS from the moment I met him I'm getting an engineer. He tried half-heartedly to talk me out of it by saying that some engineers go overboard. He gave up when he realized he wasn't going to budge me on it :wink:

I'll be attending too as the block is only a 1/2 hours drive from the office - just have to work back a bit tomorrow night to make up for it. The later I leave anyway the traffic will be a bit better and it shouldn't take me an hour and a half to get from Williamstown to Clayton :evil:

Will take camera and copious notes tomorrow and will let everyone know how we go
