Had building inspector through this morning, I think they emailed the report through to my work address and haven't got access to it from home Nothing too crazy to note other than they didn't follow the plans (which we knew) for the front verandah gutter - they put it INSIDE the garage without asking us, when it should have been incorporated in to the front feature pillar. Pure laziness/not reading the plans correctly. I could only stick around for the first hour though so there might be more in the report. Hubby isn't the greatest communicator so even though he was there he probably won't remember most of what was said!! Hopefully our lovely SS plays fair on Friday or there will be some serious sledging, don't want to scare the neighbours! On another note, hubby found cigarette butts IN THE CEILING!! Yes, the idiots that did the insulation were SMOKING IN THE ROOF CAVITY!! Going to take photos and show SS, see his reaction grrr. Re: D&A - Landsdale build with Summit - splashback in 763Nov 27, 2013 11:45 pm I really hope it all goes well on Friday!!! You deserve a gorgeous house Re: D&A - Landsdale build with Summit - splashback in 764Nov 28, 2013 8:41 am Thanks fmac I really can't wait to get in and make it our home, we had told the family that we would have Christmas at our new house this year but it was quite evident in August that it wouldn't be happening!! Oh well, at least I've got some annual leave booked and once the floors go in we can hopefully get everything moved before I have to go back to work. Plus I'm super glad that we should be able to score some bargains in the Christmas/Boxing Day sales in terms of furniture and appliances, yay! Plus I want to go to adairs and buy a nice new bed spread set Saw some beautiful stuff there the other day and really wanted to buy it!!! And a really sexy blue kitchenaid, but that might have to wait hehe. Re: D&A - Landsdale build with Summit - PCI Friday 765Nov 28, 2013 9:08 am On another note, I've been getting some quotes for window treatments... Anyone want to recommend a company? Quote from Boardwalk Shutters was ridiculously expensive for only a few windows. We had The Blinds Gallery come and quote on the weekend and we could get the whole house done (combination of shutters and roller blinds) for about $8k - not sure if that's good or not but it was definitely better value than Boardwalk!! Have asked Kresta and Westral to quote too, so will see what they say. If anyone has had a terrible experience or a good one with any of these companies, please share! Re: D&A - Landsdale build with Summit - PCI Friday 766Nov 28, 2013 9:48 am Try spotlight? Pretty sure they do made to measure and if you keep an eye out they are regularly offing 30% off. We still just have the blinds from the builders, haven't had a chance to sort out curtains! Blue kitchen aid would be lovely! I was deciding between blue and red but ended up going with the red Re: D&A - Landsdale build with Summit - PCI Friday 767Nov 28, 2013 10:03 am We found blinds gallery best quote for shutters but we going with white timber venetians now for cheaper options with abc blinds who were cheapest for that.. try vista too twigs they weren't bad on quotes Home Group WA Monte Carlo Timeline on Page 1 Re: D&A - Landsdale build with Summit - PCI Friday 768Nov 28, 2013 11:20 am All I know is don't go to ABC, they like to charge an arm, a leg and few fingers if you have any spares. We got our roller blinds from Curtain Wonderland when they had a sale on...total window treatment cost came to about $5k with ready made curtains + roller blinds in kitchen, dining, living and theatre. Haven't heard any bad things about them Re: D&A - Landsdale build with Summit - PCI Friday 770Nov 28, 2013 3:01 pm We went with AAA blinds they had best quote out of all of them but they are down in Port Kennedy and dont have a website Re: D&A - Landsdale build with Summit - PCI Friday 771Nov 28, 2013 4:24 pm twiggens On another note, I've been getting some quotes for window treatments... We went with the Blinds Gallery, seemed to be very helpful with a good range and also a good price. We are mostly getting roller blinds, with vertical aluminium in the toilets and bathroom and timber vertical's for the front windows. Was somewhere around the 4.5k mark. Re: D&A - Landsdale build with Summit - PCI Friday 772Nov 28, 2013 11:12 pm Thanks for the suggestions guys, off for some more googling while watching Turtle Man haha. House got cleaned today for PCI tomorrow. Their idea of clean doesn't cut it really but it's still better than it was. Fingers crossed everything goes well tomorrow morning and the SS is cooperative!! Hubby tested all the circuits today and everything works, got some awesome pics of all the front lights on, will try post some after PCI Re: D&A - Landsdale build with Summit - PCI Friday 773Nov 28, 2013 11:17 pm good luck for tomorrow twiggens! about time! Well, we spent a good 2.5 hours going through the place, and we were very happy that the SS was actually picking up on things and pointing stuff out, which marginally redeemed him in our books. Will still give honest feedback on the lack of communication and sloppy trades though. The list of touch ups required is pretty long, but the only major things that need to be done are the splashback corrected and the alfresco ceiling panel that is damaged has to be replaced, which could be tricky for them. Hopefully pulling it off doesn't mess up the rest of it!! All going smoothly we should have the keys on Black Friday.... *cue shark music*. Fingers crossed!! Tiler is booked to start on that Saturday and he reckons he needs around 9 days to do the whole house, so should be done a day before Christmas if he doesn't get held up and works 9 days straight... Not getting our hopes up but it would be lovely to at least sleep in the new place on Christmas eve!! Will try get some photos up over the weekend, I've gotta go run some light fittings back to hubby who is still there after arriving at 6am!! I am building in claymore NSW and this is shown in the building envelope plan. … 0 10040 Thank you so much everyone. This all makes a lot of sense. I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17630 I would be wary. Is you site demilished but nothing else done? Sounds like liquidity problems to me. Our builder did the same. Got hundreds of thousands of dollars of… 2 15414 |
