Looks great otherwise SPoke with the SS this morning and he is going to speak with the kitchen company. He did not think that it could be done, but they have the exact same size at the show home with a cutlery insert, so I am expecting that it will be done. Hoping they leave the insert for the smaller drawer as it will come in very handy. Carpenter should be back tomorrow to fix the bulkhead in the kitchen, plasterers will be back on Thursday to board in under the stairs and finish the bulkhead and then the painters move in on Friday. Tarsha had a team that didn't show up for more than a week. We have already had our team of painters come to our house to do the external works. Hopefully they will show up again when they are supposed to (like they did last time) Modified Fernside 38 Rawson Homes Blog: http://www.thehousethatmatandjenbuilt.blogspot.com Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60501 Re: Mat & Jens Port Stephens Rawson Bld- Kitchen TODAY! 265May 14, 2013 7:28 pm If red is a no go, a grey splash back will look great. I'm also a tame one with colours too, but I do admire and appreciate those who go for a bright splash back. Grey will enable you accessorise with lots of different colours. Hope your painters get there this week. Exciting now you are getting close We built the Wisdom Majestic 40 - moved in! Painters were called off our job to finish off another maintenance job, so that have started this morning Plasterers are back tomorrow to finish off under the stairs and the kitchen bulkhead. Stone to go in this week and tiling to also start this week On the weekend we kept working on the yard. With only a 5 or so weeks until we move in, we need to make sure all the fences are secure so that the dogs cannot get out. One of the things I have been busting to do is to make the gabion feature walls for the front gate. I originally sourced them back in September last year, but I have been putting them off as I did not want any large trucks coming in and knocking them over. We put them up on the weekend - I have a lot more details of them on my blog including cost and how we filled them, so I wont put all that information here, but here are some pictures of the finished gabion walls. I was thinking of doing that for our small retaining wall that we will need. Re: Mat & Jens Port Stephens Rawson Bld- Painting! 269May 20, 2013 12:47 pm Looking good Jen! One of the great things about building with Rawson is the fact that they let you onsite to do things so long as it doesn't interfere with the build. Our neighbours can't believe the things we have been able to get done. They have been told that if they are caught on site the job will stop. Re: Mat & Jens Port Stephens Rawson Bld- Painting! 271May 20, 2013 7:26 pm Tommy you are in Sydney aren't you? I know Rawson's trades travel, but not far Love the fact that Rawson still allow you access to the block. We have so much work to do its great we can get some done before we move in. Painting started today. Too dark when I got there to see anything. Spoke with the SS today and tilers will be starting tmw or Wednesday (sand delivered) and painters and tilers will work at the same time. Plasters should be back tmw Modified Fernside 38 Rawson Homes Blog: http://www.thehousethatmatandjenbuilt.blogspot.com Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60501 Re: Mat & Jens Port Stephens Rawson Bld- Painting! 272May 21, 2013 9:22 am Forgot to post a picture of the mother-in-law proof door handle that was installed last week. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Painting continues today with the undercoat. The tilers start tomorrow. SS has said that the site fencing will come down at the end of next week, which is good as we can get some machines in to start levelling off the ground so we can start turfing. I spoke with the SS and he said that they dont make them that big - I have a picture of the one at Homeworld at Kellyville so I assured him they make them that big, that is why we specified the size of cutlery drawer. I was with our SS last Thursday when he spoke with the kitchen company and he said that they have to supply it as we have paid for it. From the conversation that I heard they have agreed to supply it. Make sure you pursue it with your SS Is your stone in yet???? Bigted said an army of people pulled up in a van with the benchtops, cutout the sink inserts & once installed hand polished it all! Worth viewing if you get the chance! Will definitely pursue the cutlery drawer. Re: Mat & Jens Port Stephens Rawson Bld- Painting! 277May 21, 2013 6:40 pm Our stone tops and vanities went in today. Went to the house at 5pm and they were just finishing off. You can tell that they have cut and hand polished on site - the backyard is full of white dust They didn't give the cutlery tray when they came back so I will be following it up again. We were promised that there would not be a spray gun anywhere near a Rawson home - all 3 coats would be rolled. Discovered yesterday that the undercoat was going to be sprayed - not happy but decided not to fuss. Tonight Bigted got to site just as painter was packing up - explained that paint was shiny as the first coat of colour had been sprayed? Checked with SS - painter told him undercoat sprayed, 2nd coat sprayed AND back rolled, 3rd coat rolled. Can anyone tell me what you were told or what actually happened if you are passed the painting stage? Building Stroud 30 in Lake Macquarie Re: Mat & Jens Port Stephens Rawson Bld- Painting! 279May 22, 2013 9:26 am I had the same thins with our SS yesterday. Paul told us that they did not spray at all. Our SS said that they spray the undercoat and roller the rest. I am OK with this providing they do. I have been assured that they do. I am off work today, so will be going around to the house to make sure that they are rolling not spraying. I'd have thought that the perfectly smooth finish of spraying would be preferable? Thanks for much mate. I see that you do cabinets before flooring.
