At ours it's the Dingo v Bigted - the Dingo's winning! We've put in 80m of ag-line & moved 3 cubic metres of gravel! Building Stroud 30 in Lake Macquarie Re: Mat & Jens Port Stephens Rawson Bld- Painting! 303Jun 10, 2013 3:45 pm The mud is unbelievable! We have had a 2t excavator and a bobcat this weekend and the mud has won. I will post some photos tonight, but it doesn't do it justice as to how bad it is. We badly need road base for the driveway - but we are looking at 40m3 at a minimum How did your PCI go? Lots of paint fixes but painters were always coming back to do skirtings after the floors were finished. Lots of paint overspray but we have been assured cleaners will fix. Also an issue with the triple stacker screen door - not square & doesn't close properly & not metal for bush fire. Stegbar need to replace completely as we will not be accepting a patch up job. Should be all good for Thursday handover as long as all the appliances turn up & work! Should be all good for Thursday handover as long as all the appliances turn up & work! Can't believe you are handing over this week. Jealous much. We have put ours off a week. I spoke with SS this morning and the painter is on holidays for 2 weeks and gets back 24/6. I didnt want to push handover and make the painter rush when he got back. Would rather wait a week and have a perfect house. So we are looking at handover for 4th or 5th July. Here are our playing in the mud from the weekend. We hired an excavator and borrowed a bobcat from my boss. We managed to get the bobcat bogged! Thankfully a lovely excavator man who got hold of his bosses JCB pulled out the bobcat so I didnt have to go to work and tell my boss that his bobcat was in a mud hole Car and excavator - the excavator was just a little bit heavy for the car Starting - when it looked relatively dry And then the mud came out to play. Bogged bobcat Excavator was useless to try and pull it out JCB to the rescue The backyard now looks like this after 3 days of hard work The driveway actually looks better in the picture. It is pretty flat and holding together in the sunny weather. Keeping everything crossed that it stays dry this week, or it will be fun driving on it. My job today is getting someone to go out and level off the driveway so we can get roadbase in. We have worked out that the driveway is 350 - 400m2 so we need about 60 tonnes to start off with Modified Fernside 38 Rawson Homes Blog: http://www.thehousethatmatandjenbuilt.blogspot.com Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60501 Re: Mat & Jens Port Stephens Rawson Bld- Painting! 306Jun 11, 2013 11:05 am Good luck Jen!!! I have had two so far for glass. Both have quoted for the same thing, starfire glass with the colour TBA. One came back at $935.00 and the other one came back at $1397.00 - nearly a 50% difference. Really pays to shop around. Today I had a stone place come out and measure for a Caesarstone splashback. The good thing with the caesarstone it eliminates the need to pick a colour, which is my problem. Ours is still missing. Handover confirmed for 9:00 am Tuesday! Building Stroud 30 in Lake Macquarie Re: Mat & Jens Port Stephens Rawson Bld- Fit Off! 309Jun 15, 2013 3:36 pm Good luck for handover. Our tray still has not arrived. Not forgetting about it as we paid for a 950mm bank of cutlery drawers. When they installed your lights, did you have down lights or just the bayonet fitting. We haves couple of bayonets but mainly just a mark on the ceiling and a tiny hole. Makes it very dark and now means we have to get the electrician out to the house straight away so we have lights Modified Fernside 38 Rawson Homes Blog: http://www.thehousethatmatandjenbuilt.blogspot.com Build Thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60501 Re: Mat & Jens Port Stephens Rawson Bld- Fit Off! 310Jun 15, 2013 4:47 pm We had all the bayonets installed as we did not want down lights. Have now decided to put them in some places, but can live with the bare globes for a little while - bank account is very sick & MasterCard is sizzling! Building Stroud 30 in Lake Macquarie Re: Mat & Jens Port Stephens Rawson Bld- Fit Off! 311Jun 15, 2013 7:25 pm We were going to do the same thing and live with the bayonets until funds allowed, but not having anything has thrown a spanner in the works. Agree with you, the credit card is going to get a roasting and the bank account is pretty offensive at this stage. Re: Mat & Jens Port Stephens Rawson Bld- Fit Off! 313Jul 03, 2013 9:28 am Hi Jen Stalker here.... I've noticed that you're doing your landscaping before handover. Was that a special consideration given to you by Rawson, or is the norm once the site fencing is down? Metricon have said we can't start anything on site until handover. We have been doing bits and pieces to the property the whole time during the build. Our property is 1 acre and I specifically asked prior to starting if the site fence could only go around the house and so we could do some landscaping. Our SS was happy with this. Once the site fencing came down we did some work on the driveway and this weekend we will be having an excavation company come in to level off the driveway and put road base down so that the final clean can be done in the house before handover. Rawson have been quite flexible with us in regards to this, however, they accept no responsibility to any damage caused if it is done before handover.
