Will be using your build as a gauge to see what happens next and how long it takes... Glad to see it is all full steam ahead. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 46Jan 17, 2013 7:24 pm Well a little more progress today. The roof continued - not quite done but shouldn't be too far away. And the bricks arrived today, so its full steam ahead. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 48Jan 18, 2013 7:03 pm Quote: Looking great! I can't believe how quickly it all went up, especially with the christmas break! Do you think you'll be able to talk the SS into taking a bunch of onsite photos? I know - I can't believe to either. I certainly wasn't expecting work to start last week and so much to happen so quickly!! Truthfully, I wasn't expecting anything to happen until late January so this is all just a bonus. I wouldn't ask the SS to take photos - I will take as many as I can myself. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 49Jan 19, 2013 7:13 pm So the roof is looking really good. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ All the tiles are on and just the ridge capping needs to be cemented on. They didn't finish it yesterday because they left at about 11. Who can blame them - that heat was ridiculous. It was 45 on the ground, who knows how hot it was on the roof. I want my house done but I don't want anyone to die to make that happen. So, hopefully they will be back on monday to finish it off and the brickies will start early in the week - all the stuff is there, now we just need the workers. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 50Jan 19, 2013 7:27 pm Looking good Dearheart! I was hoping my roof frames would be completed by today, but with yesterday 46 degrees at the block... I don't blame them for not turning up and again no work done today Hoping the framed and windows are completed by the week, but saying that... We will have a bloody huge bill at the same time! Our bank didn't take our savings for the first payment... We went ino the branch to sort it out and then the mortgage people rang a week later and said why didn't you pay with your saving firsts... So this one will hit the pocket lol Built a Hawthorne 31 with EB nessjeffdreamhouse.blogspot.com.au Building an investment now with New Living homes... We are at nearly finished... I have been talking to some landscapers (I know its early but I like to be organised and know who I am going to go with and how much it will cost) and I know that I am going to get a water feature to go in the backyard. Its not a huge yard but its to go near the back as a feature for the alfresco. I found this shop that has some great options and these are the two that I really liked. (I know the angels are a little weird but there wasn't much room to get a full length shot)

At the moment the block is just too muddy and horrible - the more I look at them the more that I prefer the black one. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 52Jan 20, 2013 8:38 pm Oooooooohhhhhh! I love both of them.... Haven't seen the angular one before! That would look original! That is the type that I went looking for - the block type with water cascading over. And I really like that one. But there is just something about the other that I really like. I know that style has been used a lot before (with an urn as a large part of it) and I don't usually like that style but there is just something about it that is drawing me in. I'm torn. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 54Jan 21, 2013 7:58 pm a little mud never hurt anyone Yesterday when inspecting a block of land I bought home enough of it on my shoes that I should be paying interest on it! I liked the geometric one first but the round one is growing on me and would probably be more pleasing to look at over a period of time. Also think of how both will look at night under illumination, and to some extents how the shape will cast shadows and reflections from the water. That's where water features really stand out imo! Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 55Jan 23, 2013 7:28 pm OMG! the brickies started today and I can't believe how much they got done. You know how they do about half high and go around the house before going up? They have done that for (pretty much) both sides and the back. And a few rows at the front. It is incredible! If they keep up this pace they will be finished in 3 or 4 more days. Soon it will look like a real house. What colour brick did you end up choosing? Was it an upgrade? It looks sooo good! BTW- you know how they say after bricks payment the next one is internal linings is due at the commencement, how do you know? Is it straight after brick lock up? Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 57Jan 23, 2013 8:17 pm Yep. Another bill. Thats 2 of them in the last 3 weeks. The brick is called "Mild Steel" and it was an upgrade. It was on the display home and I loved it. It will look even better when the mortar dries white and it is cleaned. It is silly that the linings payment needs to be given upfront - all the others are when that job has been completed. All the other companies that I know of have the next payment at lockup. It just seems wrong that you have paid SO MUCH of the money and in reality so little of the house is done. There is literally 25 000 left to pay after the lining payment but - 70 or 80% of the house left to do. I have no idea when that bill comes - I'll just wait to receive it. I'm sure I won't be waiting long. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 59Jan 31, 2013 8:52 pm More progress today. After 7 long days the brickies were back at work. The house is now bricks 2/3 of the way all around the house and they have began the last of the brickwork, with most of the back wall being completed. Looking forward to seeing to tomorrow of they get as much done then. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 60Feb 01, 2013 6:54 pm Damn that rain that came this afternoon. If it wasn't for that they would have finished bricking the house today. As it is they are now so close. All they have left to do is that bit that goes under the window on the study window and the laundry sliding door (don't know what its called) and the top third of the garage (all the way around). That's it. An hour or two and they'll be done. Is it too much to hope that they come Saturday morning to finish off?? I built with EB back on 2009.
