I have some sympathy for the brickies though as i got caught in the middle of it and was thoroughly saturated. House is looking great, starting to really take shape. Colour selections are well thought out and match quite well...oh and thanks for choosing our window colour for us Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 62Feb 01, 2013 8:01 pm Quote: oh and thanks for choosing our window colour for us You're welcome. What brick did you choose? Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 63Feb 01, 2013 8:02 pm Quote: certainly was a downpour! I have some sympathy for the brickies though as i got caught in the middle of it and was thoroughly saturated. I don't blame the brickies for stopping - I wouldn't want to get wet either - I blame the rain for starting. It just had to hold off an hour or two, thats all. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 65Feb 02, 2013 10:50 pm That's a complicated question Alanoz. I love the house plan. But the administration side of things was a nightmare and SOOOO frustrating. Its been quite a saga. Lets just say it was almost a year from when I signed and began the journey to when construction actually began. But now that construction is happening things are progressing quite smoothly. So I will wait and see before passing final judgement but it was not a smooth beginning. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 67Feb 03, 2013 7:59 pm I didn't ever really get an answer for what took so long but that is in the past now and we are moving forward. Its weird - I know someone else who had a similiar experiece (with everything taking so long) and I know someone else who just flew through the process. I don't know what the difference is. Is it the CSO pushing for things to get done? Is it your file just happeneing to get done first every time? Who knows? Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 68Feb 04, 2013 6:35 pm Another busy day onsite!! The brickies finished the brick work. YAH!! So far it looks really good but I will have to wait until it is cleaned to know for sure. Here are a few pics of the front - no use putting up too many, not until its cleaned. They almost finished cementing on the ridge capping and when I was leaving (at 6:45PM) someone was still there painting/colouring the cement. It is also looking very good. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 69Feb 07, 2013 8:39 pm A pretty quite two days. The roofers finished, the downpipes were installed and the electrician ran the wires from the green box to the house - hopefully they'll be back tomorrow to anctually do the first fix electrics. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 70Feb 11, 2013 7:00 pm Anothe busy day. The ducting went in for the airconditioning and there were people there doing the eaves. They almost finished - just the section over the portico and the alfresco (if they do it). They have almost finished all the outside work and we are beginning the interiors. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 71Feb 11, 2013 7:12 pm Have you had the internal linings bill? What do they define as the commencement of internal linings? Also, have you had any independent inspections? Have tyrells been through? Built a Hawthorne 31 with EB nessjeffdreamhouse.blogspot.com.au Building an investment now with New Living homes... We are at nearly finished... Just landscaping and driveway to go! Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 72Feb 11, 2013 7:49 pm I haven't had the linings bill yet - don't say it too loud though. We don't want to attract attention. I haven't had any independent inspections and I'm not sure about Tyrrels. My SS hasn't said anything - but then again he isn't the most vocal of people. Dearheart Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 73Feb 14, 2013 7:30 pm So, they finished all the eaves, the electricians came and did all the first fix electricial, the cavities for the sliding doors were fitted and they cleaned the bricks. In my opinion they look great. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 74Feb 14, 2013 7:41 pm Wow Dearheart! Looks great, I love your bricks too. Is the last picture your garage? Looks nice, I bet you can't wait to see the insides going up. Based upon your build, you are about 4 days ahead of us.... Our airconditioning went in today... Has your SS given you any tentative PCI or settlement dates? We are having our build independently inspected next Wednesday. Our SS anticipates lock up Thursday. He gave us a tentative PCI date of 30th of april with settlement 14th May... Eeekkk! So close! Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 75Feb 14, 2013 8:06 pm Thanks 1sttime. I think the bricks have come up really nicely - I'm very happy with the overall colour palate so far. Just the garage door, pillars and front door to go and their all Dune so it should work very nicely. It will be interesting to see if I stay 4 days ahead of you. I haven't gotten any dates from my SS at all. He actually has never initiated contact, it has all come from me. I'm actually a little jealous that your SS is keeping you so up to date - I get nothing, every day is a new surprise. The carpentars told my Day when he visited that gyprock was starting next week - here's hoping they know what their talking about. Mid-May would be fantastic. Since we are about the same stage here's hoping that we are both in by then. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 76Feb 23, 2013 5:22 pm So a quiet start to the week but it picked up at the end. The insulation was delivered and installed on Thursday, then the gyprock was delivered and started to go up on Friday. Couldn't get in to have a look as it was too wet - and I don't like my chances for next week either. So next time I'm in there I will hopefully be in for a big surprise and a lot of difference. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 77Feb 23, 2013 8:14 pm Hi Dearheart! We are also building a Lawson 24 in Spring Farm NSW! We were so excited when we found your photos - we cannot wait to start building! We have a start date of end of June 2013. We were just wondering - since you have been through the colour process - whether it cost more for black window frames? Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 78Feb 23, 2013 8:47 pm Hi lauraNtroy, welcome to the world of building!! I hope that you have a smooth run (better than me in any case). I think that you have chosen an excellent house and look forward to seeing what changes you make and what colours you choose. There is a list of standard window colours and I think that black is on that, so I'm fairly certain that it is no extra. I hope that everything workd for you and you can start in June - where are you up to in the process? Did you make any changes to the floor plan? Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 79Feb 25, 2013 10:16 pm More gyprock went up today - it appears to be about half done. Then the other people can come in to finish off the edges and corners. Pics tomorrow. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 80Feb 26, 2013 7:02 pm So everything is looking really good - the gyprocking is almost finished. They just need to finish a little of the finishing off/fixing and then the cornice people can come in and do their bit. Just a few pics.
