I would have thought that since they put your appliances in already that most things would have been done. I feel devastated for you. Hope things get resolved soon, so your nightmare ends and you can start enjoying your home. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 242May 23, 2013 8:23 pm that's terrible... we drive past everytime we are at the estate and to see your lovely home still empty is really disheartening. Although no consolation to you other EB'ers around the corner are having problems as well Lack of tradies perhaps? Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 243May 23, 2013 9:31 pm Thanks - maybe things are looking a little up. My mum just drove by the house and the painters and inside doing prep work now. They said they'll be there until they finish and will be back tomorrow to do the inside painting and the outside will be done when its dry. According to them its getting cleaned tomorrow and handover will be next week. Good that they've been told - I would have liked if it had been me being told that. I know that things could be worse - the people around the corner definitely have it much worse than me. Its not a problem with lack of tradies - their brick work was done but then the mortar all started to crack. The solution was to repoint the house but that hasn't worked, so now they need to do some type of render - which they didn't want. It's going to take at least another month before they get their house. They started with EBH in November 2011. There house has been in its current state of almost at handover for about 2 months. Its been ridiculous. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 244May 23, 2013 9:56 pm I'm sorry to hear that, Dearheart. Surely it won't be too long now. We haven't got a settlement date yet but I'm hoping its next Friday. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 245May 24, 2013 1:12 pm Hopefully painters do a good job and you get your handover next week. It would have been helpful if they had actually told you this and not just the painters though..... I think that the lack of tradies is a problem that EB are facing at the moment. Doesn't matter what stage of the build you are in there will be some that will have to wait weeks for things to happen. Like you, my house sat with nothing being done for 2 to 3 weeks and then within a week everything was done and we had a PCI date booked. It is fairly frustrating to know that you are so close to having keys, but can't due to things not being completed. Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 248May 30, 2013 11:03 pm I'm having my inspection tomorrow morning but all the work hasn't been finished yet - so unless its done by 10 am tomorrow either we won't settle or I'll settle with thing unfinished. And there not little things, there things like the outside painting isn't finished, the brick work isn't completely clean, the front stoop is loose - things that were identified in the Tyrrells report but not done yet. How about you Lousie, you must be getting close? Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 249May 30, 2013 11:13 pm Hi, Dearheart. We have settlement booked for next Thursday. There are still things to complete on the Tyrell's report but our SS is confident they will be completed in time. Our SS wouldn't let us settle until everything was completed properly. Hopefully there won't be any delays. I'm sorry to hear about your woes. We are keeping our fingers and toes crossed this will be the month you get some closure on this! & Happy Birthday (not sure of the exact date but we're guessing only a few days out!) Re: Eden Brae - My First Home The Lawson 24 252Jun 03, 2013 10:46 pm Well, when we had our inspection on Friday there were a number of things not done or done very badly and had to be redone. We spent 2 hours going around and marking them out. The SS got the painters back that day and they did what they needed to - some things still need to be done and they actually messed up a few things that were good in the first place but its much better. The SS was trying very hard and actually spent most of the day working himself on things. We had another inspection early this morning and I went after work and got the keys - finally. There's a list already of things that need to be fixed or are a little badly done but nothing that would hold up settlement. I just wanted to get the keys and get everything started. The shutters went on today and carpet and appliances tomorrow and it will look like a finished house.
