Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our families first home--brick action finally!Pictures 121Feb 21, 2013 6:11 am Congrats on bricking finally starting. Nice colour too. We didn't have any wrap before our bricks, but we do have upgraded insulation. In the estate where we are building I've not noticed any wrap before bricking, I guess it depends on the builder. Hope the weather stays nice for you during bricking and those brickies do a fabulous job for you. I loved our first home and I think yours is bigger than ours was. You will be beside yourself when the plaster goes up, that was when I finally could really see what our house would look like. Re: Our families first home--brick action finally!Pictures 124Feb 22, 2013 6:51 pm Onewheel - thank you! We can't wait to see how they look when they are cleaned up. THanks for letting me know about your wrap/insullation it makes me feel better! Thanks 1Rocky, we are so excited to see their progress. TashnStu - thanks for popping by! It gets me down in the dumps a little when I realise how small our house/block is, but the reality is that we have done the best we can. We only have to see the joy and the excitement in our kids faces to see what we have accomplished. They ask us to go over every day and they are happy to hang around as long as we want. Not bad for 3,5 and 7 year olds lol! I can't wait for the plaster to go up, though it always seems like the next stage will never get here! LOL, I just can't wait for the roof to go on! Anyways, here are some more pictures from today. I think 1, maybe 2 more days and they will be done! Good to see they are so excited! I remember the first time my parents built a house (I think I would've been about . It was so exciting but it seemed to take YEARS, but apparently was only four months haha. 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Our families first home--bricks nearly done - more pictu 129Feb 27, 2013 3:54 pm Thanks Onewheel Yeah it must seem like years to them already Stellabella, its been 12 months since we put the deposit on our land lol. Well, the bricking still isn't finished. Which means the roof isn't on, guttering isn't done and still no fascia. Its supposed to rain for the next week+ and I want to cry to think this frame is going to get exposed to MORE rain and humidity. It has done nothing but been wet and humid in Sydney for weeks and weeks on end now. Does anyone know if the rain will damage the frame? As in warp, go mouldy etc? I am terrified of that Our first home... viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60460 Land Dep paid 26/2/12 Site cleared7/12/12 Slab 20/12/12 Frame 25/1/13 Bricks 19/2/13 Re: Our families first home--bricks nearly done - more pictu 130Feb 27, 2013 5:32 pm i was also worried about all the rain with our frame ( and we have had some rain) and he said the frames are fine and nothing to worry about) sorry not much help but the house is awesome Re: Our families first home--bricks nearly done - more pictu 131Feb 28, 2013 4:34 am Looking good spottie! Your kids look pretty happy with the progress too. I hear your worries about the rain. Our bricking hasn't been completed but out plaster has been hung (we've been wrapped and have a roof though)so praying nothing gets through, especially with all the time and effort hubby has gone to to hang it all. Re: Our families first home--bricks nearly done - more pictu 133Mar 13, 2013 2:41 pm Hi - no news, we are STILL waiting for a roof Its very disheartening I must say. And why are they available for other jobs, but not mine!?) I hope things speed up again for you soon. At least it is looking fantastic! I see you have "gone dark" (as they say in the spy movies)for a while, we are really interested in your build so any updates would be great. Regardless of wall hung toilet or floor pan toilet your feet will be right on drain, seems to me the waste should not be in that location given the design.
