Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 23, 2012 7:53 pm Who has had success with using smaller building contractors in the Hills District ( Kellyville, Rouse Hill, The Ponds, etc ) in the last 2-3 years? Who did you use? How well did prices compare to the project home builders? I'm looking to start building next year and looking at options including sourcing a smaller building company. I might get some DA Approved plans for the site adapted for my needs. I'm also currently talking to Project Home builders but just keen to check all options. Build size will be around 28 - 32 sq double-story. I figure that a smaller builder might be more flexible, whilst also providing a more personal service ( by not having to deal with layers and layers of site supervisors, admin staff, etc). You can also try elderton and modern view homes. Price wise we were similar to a mid to high spec project home but the standard inclusions are great. 40mm ceaserstone to kitchen, 20mm ceaserstone to bathrooms and laundry, polyurethane to kitchen, bathrooms etc 9ft ceilings, alarm, aircon, full polished porcelain tiling to floors, floor to ceiling tiling to bathrooms etc. Good luck where are you building? Re: Smaller building contractors - Hills District 3Oct 23, 2012 9:04 pm Thanks for the reply. What was 'interesting' about the ride? Did you build one of their designs or a custom design? I'll be building at Rouse Hill. Worth a look Re: Smaller building contractors - Hills District 5Oct 24, 2012 6:26 am I just finished building with White Design and Construction last month. They were brilliant. Our house is 35sq and our site was cut in the second week of May and we moved in on 20th Sept. Inclusions were great and everything was included (landscaping, fences, etc). Good luck! Building at The Ponds (NSW) in 2012! Re: Smaller building contractors - Hills District 6Oct 24, 2012 3:43 pm maximus Thanks for the reply. What was 'interesting' about the ride? Did you build one of their designs or a custom design? I'll be building at Rouse Hill. Our house is a custom two stores about 53sq, so fairly large. Interesting as the boys that own the company are a little disorganized, in saying that we had site start the day after council approval so no wasting time with administration, you do deal with the owners which helps, but it can be frustrating at times Re: Smaller building contractors - Hills District 7Oct 24, 2012 4:19 pm We are currently building with Elderton in the Hills District, and they have been great. The admin was a little slow going, however I think that is similar for every company. Elderton is a small company, currently building 4 new display homes, one currently on display at Kellyville Ridge (although you can't build that design anymore). They seem to be quite flexible in any "custom" requests. And since we have started the build, its going up super quickly! Re: Smaller building contractors - Hills District 8Oct 24, 2012 7:06 pm Whites are actually a company I had already found with my own research during the week. They look quite good to me. They could be a good option for a custom build based on existing DA plans. It seems like they get used by the larger builders (e.g. one of the houses on their website looks like a spec home for said builder). The reason for my post was to try and find others that are much like whites. Elderton seem to have some plans that would suit me too. Thanks for the replies! Appreciate it. Its gives us a very idea. Kind Regards 4 3646 Thanks for your reply. I will just wait and see I guess. Trying to get some more information from our builder. 9 30235 |
