Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building on an acre in Jarrahdale ... prestart today! 41Feb 10, 2013 1:18 am Hey Trees, The filtrex system is only allowed to be sub soil irrigation, and can't be used directly on plants you're going to eat. You can't for example plant the full veggie patch in it because it doesn't destroy all the bacteria from the effluent. It can be used for citrus (and apparently also for some nut trees) where the peel is removed before eating. I think this is partly because the tree itself acts as an additional filter. They don't recommend the eating of any fruit that falls to the ground though ... If you think about it it is probably no worse than fertilizing with manure ... Next step finance. 44Feb 10, 2013 11:01 am That's pricey but it sounds like you made good choices. I didn't find out till the other day that we pay $650odd (can't remember exact figure) for polytec sheen whether we use it throughout the house or only on our kitchen cupboards/drawer fronts! Wish if known that earlier. Re: Building on an acre in Jarrahdale ... Next step finance. 45Feb 10, 2013 11:32 am I'm pretty happy, when you take out the septics and soak wells that's only $14000 on pretties ... Still a little over my budget of $10000 which is why the gloss went - I wanted pot drawers more. Plus I looked at my sister's kitchen which has velour and thought, yeah I can love that for pot drawers, and I quite like the texture of them ... Reading ur posts love ur plans and look forward to see how things progress. Just wondering if anyone can tell me the difference between gloss, velour and pearl finishes on kitchen cabinets. Have had my pre start few weeks ago in Bunbury with Redink, but still changing few things. Finally after several months of back and forth prestart and a nervous wait on valuations and finance approval I'm back! Between me deciding to add a couple of things, and the builder picking up a few other mistakes in scheduling we've managed to make it to something like our tenth VO/plan revision. The land loan seemed to happen really quickly but the construction loan took what felt like forever ( although that could just be because it was the last thing I was waiting for to move from prestart to scheduling). I started to get a little panicky about the valuation, but finally got word from the bank that everything was approved, and then just had to wait forever (again!) for the loan documents. The bank finally paid the deposit to the builder on Friday and lucky for me the builder must have decided that the finance approval was enough to get them started on construction because I had an email on Tuesday letting me know that my site works are complete and my slab should go down (weather permitting) in the next week or two Naturally I then had to go straight up to the block and check it out - Just waiting for a slab Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Now with extra rock Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Love this having something concrete to actually show for the last six months!! We just changed our bricks as the one we wanted was discontinued so we have whitecliff too now Our finance was a bit funny too as we had to wait for the house to be valued and the valuer said it was going to be worth less that what it was costing to build In the same doc he also said he had almost no sales info to go on as no houses that size on a block like our had been sold in several years, go figure. All came out okay though as we had a good amount of equity. I hope once it is done it is worth what we are paying LOL. Cant wait to see your walls go up!! Pamela Re: Building on an acre in Jarrahdale...SLABBED :) 58Aug 26, 2013 10:52 pm Thanks everyone! Pamela I totally get the worry about whether the house will be worth what you pay for it. Not that it matters, I plan to be in it for quite a while, as I imagine you do with yours. Which is just as well as I have a loosely formed plan on what else I want to do with the block (and the house for that matter given we'll most likely be in for several months before we get flooring and window coverings) I had a phone call at the end of last week from my SS introducing himself. Apparently the bricks should be delivered sometime this week but we've got at least a three week wait as the brickies that work in Jarrahdale are just starting on a Redink build around the corner. On the plus side they also did the house being built next to us. Its at lockup now but I may have "explored" a little after their walls were up He also said they were having a few issues getting the drainage in and needed a rock breaker - not exactly a big surprise given that I could read my site report and know that we would need one ... Also had to select new tiles for the laundry and a new bench top colour for the granny flat bathroom as both have been discontinued since prestart. On the plus side it meant I could simplify things a little - the laundry tiles are now the same as the main house bathroom, and the granny flat bench top is Pure Marble formica, to match the bench in the kitchen Am trying to hold off going to site until the end of the week, in the hope that there might be something new by then ... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I did have a moment when I first saw them, was absolutely sure they had delivered the wrong face bricks - but no they're the right ones. I will just say that Whitecliffe looks a lot different in the little square in the prestart book. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ They've also got one out of the three soakwells in place (and haven't they had some fun digging those out!) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The house around the corner is progressing nicely - lots of walls up, so hopefully it won't be very long before the brickies are able to start on my site Happiness doesn't depend on any external conditions, it is governed by our mental attitude. - Dale Carnegie Re: Building with Redink in Jarrahdale... have bricks! 60Sep 04, 2013 11:04 pm Posting to follow your build Our RedInk Build Thread - viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64118&p=1004131#p1004131 ** Timeline Page 1 Moved In - 19.12.13 go upvc window frames ensure insulation under colorbond. not just sarking, lighter color roof also not sure if you have seen this viewtopic.php?t=5823 last couple of pages… 4 110559 Even if it's not being sub-divided and you want to keep it as Torrens title, you will still need to talk to a town planner or Council themselves, to see if they will allow… 1 11033 |
