Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building in Yangebup with APG, we have LOCKUP! Pics incl 41Nov 06, 2012 11:01 pm Thanks TreeSea - lots of fun to come, just a shame they lock it all up We upgraded the doors Charnley, glad to say I think it was worth it! I'm thinking they'll look even better when they're painted! I love our front door too Marybond, but I think I may have a bigger crush on my door handle! Strange, I know Re: Building in Yangebup with APG, we have LOCKUP! Pics incl 42Nov 06, 2012 11:06 pm Classy internal doors! I like Re: Yangebup build with APG, front door colour dilemna-help 43Nov 09, 2012 8:19 pm So, we visited the house today and still love our front door! Trouble is, we had selected to have it painted (Surfmist) but now we're thinking the door should just be stained. We don't have any other wood externally, so do you think we should paint - or stain?
Colours of the house are: Roof - Surfmist Dark Render (Around top Floor windows on the left, and around the bottom floor on the right) - Woodland Grey Main Render colour - Dulux Stone Second Render (on the wall around the 3 horizontal windows) Here are some pics of the house.... http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l241/butchers/DSC01305.jpg Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Main colour (Dulux Stone) is on the left of the photo Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Would love to hear your thoughts! Thanx Re: Yangebup build with APG, front door colour dilemna-help 44Nov 09, 2012 9:06 pm What colour is your garage door? If it's timber then no probs, you could have wooden blinds or shutters to the windows which will also bring in the warm wood tones ....?
Re: Yangebup build with APG, front door colour dilemna-help 45Nov 09, 2012 10:41 pm Natural Wood goes with any colour I go for staining Re: Yangebup build with APG, front door colour dilemna-help 46Nov 10, 2012 8:54 am gorgeous home. love the door.. and the handle I must agree with marybond wood stain goes with anything and adds warmth and texture while remaining a stable classic feature. Chelle Re: Yangebup build with APG, front door colour dilemna-help 47Nov 10, 2012 10:46 am Hi Guys! Treesea - the garage door is Surfmist and I think we'll be having curtains at the front. Wooden flooring though Thanks Chelle and Marybond for your comments, love it when people take the time to answer questions or make comment! Re: Yangebup build with APG, front door colour dilemna-help 48Nov 10, 2012 12:23 pm I vote stained too.... It looks gorgeous already! Jen Building with HomeGroupWA (started as Scott Park Homes ) - Grand Wisteria Check out my Build Thread!! Time line on P1. Re: Yangebup build with APG, front door colour dilemna-help 49Nov 10, 2012 1:01 pm Same dilemma Im having at the moment....surfmist or stain....certainly no issues matching the stain with anything! Only reason i would go white with yours is because the entry is quite dark and it may make the door more visible? It will look gorgeous either way but totally understand your indecision!! Re: Yangebup build with APG, front door colour dilemna-help 50Nov 11, 2012 10:12 am ...to stain or not to stain.. LMAO.. I've already checked out the pics... tee hee ......to stain or not to stain.... Eagerly await the decision. its like xfactor which competitor will be disqualified in the next installment. chelle xx Re: Yangebup build with APG, front door colour dilemna-help 51Nov 11, 2012 10:34 am Haha Chelle! The Judges do need to decide who wins the "door-factor" as our painter has to know by tomorrow really! I took my mum and sister there yesterday and the both said stain, but I hear what xxkatxx is saying about it being dark... Not sure we're getting any closer to a results show Re: Yangebup build with APG, front door colour dilemna-help 52Nov 11, 2012 10:54 am Bbuilder, we are having a medium to dark stained entrance doors with wooden flooring(blackbutt) and light paint (whisper white) on walls. Our Entrance doors our under a portico which covers the sunlight through out most of the day... To be honest I think you will be fine with a stained front door Re: Yangebup build with APG, front door colour dilemna-help 53Nov 11, 2012 1:19 pm Once you have finished the entrance with landscaping/paving etc and its no longer dirt my dark comment can probably be ignored its the only thing making me consider white for mine...but otherwise stain for sure! Re: Yangebup build with APG, front door colour dilemna-help 54Nov 11, 2012 2:13 pm Gorgeous home! Ours is a single storey with main render colour and roof being dune, with a surfmist garage door and window frames, with accents of woodland grey - and we are going for a stained front door (in fact we have the same front door as you only not as wide. Ours is 1020mm, yours looks 1200mm?) Beautiful! We decided to stain it to make it a feature as we didn't have timber anywhere else on the facade, and now we are also doing a matching timber deck out the front, and horizontal slatted timber fencing (to the front). I couldn't bear to paint over that gorgeous timber! Re: Yangebup build with APG, front door colour dilemna-help 55Nov 11, 2012 11:40 pm Belandchris - what great taste you have Our selections sound almost identical!! I think we have made our decision and (drum roll please).... Stain has it! I just don't think we could paint over that lovely wood! Thanks for everyone's comments - I'm sure i'll have some more decision making to do soon so I'll be sure to ask Re: Yangebup build with APG, front door colour dilemna-help 56Nov 12, 2012 12:04 am belandchris Gorgeous home! Yes, we're having an island in the kitchen - it's got caesarstone top with waterfall edges and my favourite splurge, a pop up bank of power points. Can't wait to see all the cabinets finished, it was definitely an exciting day yesterday Re: Yangebup build with APG, cabinets have arrived! With pic 60Nov 15, 2012 5:44 pm Hi BBuilder, I just had a giggle to myself cos I've just found your text on my phone from the other day. I didn't even see it.I have a new phone and still working on how to actually use it properly. So sorry for not realising sooner. I can be around Friday if you are. Let me know and we could meet up if you go down during the day Wow things are coming along soooooo fast aren't they. Have they given you a time frame yet?? Your cabinetry looks devine. Did you go polar white with the narrow box handles?? Which stone top did you go with? Love the ensuite & laundry choice. Ours is moving along roof is nearly done now. All starting to take shape Speak to you more soon xx The fastest thing a builder will do is bank your cheque, those systems work perfectly with lightning speed, everything else is slow burn. Just the way it is. 1 8702 Can someone please offer some advice? Im DESPERATE. Because I'm completely and utterly exhausted. How long are variations taking with other companies at the moment?
