Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building in Yangebup with APG - pics included! 21Oct 25, 2012 12:45 pm Hi Lockett I really struggled with the exterior colours. We always knew we wanted greys but we didn’t want a “concrete” kind of grey, we liked the warmer tones. We actually picked totally different colours at pre-start and then had the wobbles about them. Completely changed the whole colour scheme before we signed off and so glad we did! I actually spoke to a Dulux colour consultant over the phone and she was awesome – so I can’t completely take all the credit on the house colours! We didn’t get our windows tinted, we were tempted but decided that we couldn’t squeeze it into the budget. We did get frosted glass on the bathroom windows and I really like that! The Emporio colours are gorgeous! What colour is your roof – shale grey? I don’t think it’ll be too light at all. I think it’s such a major decision that you won’t feel confidentabout it until you get to see them on your house – and then I’m sure you’ll LOVE them! Can’t wait for your scaffolding to come down too – I’d love to have a wander round it if I can! Have you been through our house – you’re more than welcome to if you haven’t already! Re: Building in Yangebup with APG - pics included! 22Oct 25, 2012 1:19 pm Hi BBuilder Your home is looking beautiful! Great choice of exterior colours and the layout it brilliant. We are also building in Yangebup - its a great area, close to everything and nice families. There is also a new shopping centre going in near the school on Beeliar drive ( adjacent to the railway bridge) which is a bonus! What will your internal colour scheme be like? Looking forward to seeing more as your build progresses VMR Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere. —Albert Einstein Re: Building in Yangebup with APG - pics included! 23Oct 25, 2012 2:04 pm Hi vmr78 , thanks for your lovely compliments. Where are you guys in Yangebup. Who are you building with and what stage are you up to? I’d seen that there was a shopping centre near the school, I wonder what shops are going in - hope it’s something nice and handy (ohh, and a coffee shop too :0) Internally we’re going with grey and white. Our kitchen cabinets are white with a grey glass splash back and the wet areas are dark grey floor tiles and white wall tiles. The ensuite has a silver mosaic feature wall which I love. Going to try and see if the tiler will do the same feature in the bathroom as we didn’t do it through the builder unfortunately We’re having timber flooring in the main living area and indestructible carpet in the bedrooms, Theatre, stairs and Activity room. The carpet we chose you can actually pour bleach on it and it won’t stain (I know, I’ve tried it!) Perfect when you have 2 boys under the age of 7! Re: Building in Yangebup with APG - pics included! 24Oct 26, 2012 10:03 am Hi BBuiilder... Ha ha I know exactly what you mean about changing things from Prestart. Changed our minds sooooo many times with things. I think the colours should be fine. I'm confident the window tint will break it up (fingers crossed) Yes we did go with the Shale Grey roof too. Because it is skillion you won't see to much of it anyway. We were so stuck on the garage door colour. The only 2 that would go would really go was the shale grey or the woodland. I have had woodland before and it gave off a green tinge to the frontage so we decided on the shale grey. What did you do about your paving???? The choice was rather exciting didn't you think We just went with the standard in Charcoal with an Ash border. Something down for now and we will perhaps change it in years to come. I haven't been over to have a sneak peak at yours since your ground floor brickwork was done. If you don't mind woud love to have a look inside. Your more than welcome to have a look in ours anytime. Give me some feedback on your thoughts. Re: Building in Yangebup with APG, lockup in 2 weeks. PICS 25Oct 26, 2012 10:20 am Absolutely you can have a look round Lockett - do it soon incase they lockup Appreciate any feedback too! I can't wait to see your colours go up, I bet they are going to look amazing. I know what you mean about Woodland Grey being a bit green, we originally ruled it out as one of our contrast colours as we thought it looked green. But in a small amount I think it's grey enough. We also struggled with what colour to do the garage door and I'm still not sure we got it right. Time will tell hey! We deleted all the paving as you are right, the choice was ermm, pretty ordinary! We have a friend who's a concretor so he'll be doing aggregate out the front and then we're not sure for out the back. Alot of options but we have alot of space out the back so its turning out to be a pretty big expense. Off down to the house today - they have one area (albeit the master bedroom and ensuite) left to plaster and then we'll have to wait for doors! I can feel lockup coming on Re: Building in Yangebup with APG - pics included! 26Oct 26, 2012 10:33 am bbuilder2012 Do you think it should be longer or shorter Treeseachanger? They're saying they have to do the plastering and then the doors will be delivered and installed and then it's lockup!... Upstairs is already done (ie paster and ceilings) so I'm hoping their estimated date is right. Oh yeah, forgot about upstairs. Cool bananas!! And your colour scheme being neutral greys sounds tasteful, calming and sophisticated. I go for more country type schemes myself but I do like the greys, and the taupes...great modern neutrals. What are your accent colours going to be?? Re: Building in Yangebup with APG - pics included! 27Oct 26, 2012 10:36 am Phew TreeSea - thought you knew something I didn't Re: Building in Yangebup with APG - pics included! 28Oct 26, 2012 10:43 am bbuilder2012 Phew TreeSea - thought you knew something I didn't Nada, just mouth (or should I say fingers) in gear, but not brain Re: Building in Yangebup with APG - pics included! 29Oct 26, 2012 10:48 am Thanks love I will try and get in for a look before they shut the doors.. I might pop down today to see if anyone shows up at our place today.I'm not holding my breath to say the least. Had no one there for 2 weeks. I'm a little beyond annnnnnnnnnoyed. The woodland render is lovely....Not green at all. I think it's just the colourbond that gives off that for some reason. I love the aggregate. I want this..Hubby says maybe later as our prestart changes blew the budget Look forward to bumping into you soon.. Re: Building in Yangebup with APG - pics included! 30Oct 26, 2012 4:06 pm HI TreeSea - Not sure about accent colours yet, I'm a massive fan of wallpaper so will be putting that in the main bedroom, Theatre and maybe one other room. Not sure what type or style yet - I'm waiting for some to jump out at me! (and for the budget to allow for it!) I really like grey and orange at the moment too - which is handy as my son has been obsessed with the colour of orange since he was about 3! Strange I know And a big hello again to Lockett Was very nice to see you in real life and can't wait to have another catchup soon, we've got lots to chat about I think (and 2 three year olds who seemed to get on very well!) x Re: Building in Yangebup with APG - Lock up is soo close! 31Nov 01, 2012 10:16 pm Just a quick update... I was SURE we would have been at lock up this week. All plastering had been done, the windows and glass doors were in and all we needed was a delivery of doors so that we could lock up. But nope! No doors until Monday so looks like we have to wait until then....I am so not good at being patient On the plus side we have had a nice site clean and we found out that the Painter who'll be painting our ceilings and doors is our new neighbour!! We're pretty sure he'll do a good job - we know where he lives!! So, while I don't really have anything to report, I'm hopeful that in 3 or so days I'll be able to say "LOCKUP" Re: Building in Yangebup with APG, pics & LOCKUP in a few da 32Nov 01, 2012 11:17 pm HI bbuilder, is the painters name Nick or Simon Re: Building in Yangebup with APG, pics & LOCKUP in a few da 33Nov 01, 2012 11:19 pm Haha! We're meeting up with Nick tomorrow to get him to quote on the walls. Our SS said he'd give us the number of the painter when we were close to lockup - so when I rang it I was surprised to find out that it was Nick. Very nice surprise though Re: Building in Yangebup with APG. We have LOCKUP! Pics incl 37Nov 06, 2012 3:03 pm Well, after a week of not alot happening, I visited today and we have doors!
