Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 04, 2008 2:18 am We have an old house with a below ground pool. We are planning to demolish the house and remove the pool completely and then build a brand new home. Has anyone ever had any experience with demolishing house and pool and about how much did it cost extra compared to house-only?
Thanks!!! Re: House and pool demolition site costs 2Apr 04, 2008 6:35 am Not sure about a house and pool.
House only for us is about $8-10K in ACT. Definately shop around for prices and make sure tip fees are not an unknown extra. The most economical way of getting rid of the pool is to fill it in. Getting rid of a below ground pool if it is concrete could cost a fortune in tip fees alone, so this would be passed on. Fibre glass in ground may be cheaper. Re: House and pool demolition site costs 4Apr 04, 2008 7:42 am Hi, we've just accepted a $12,000 quote to remove house only. We're keeping the garage. The house is 3 bed full brick, flat bitumen roof, 1940s house in Como - not far from you.
The 2 other verbal quotes were between $11,000 & $12,000 from local chaps - I had to chase them up though. They were quite busy. Sorry, can't help you with the pool removal, but I've heard the same thing - easier to fill in rather than excavate & dig out. Hope this helps Re: House and pool demolition site costs 5Apr 04, 2008 8:29 am I always barge in with demolition threads to say have you considered relocating your house instead of demolishing? There are companies who buy, relocate and sell old houses.
Our house was bought (it was ready for demolition, brick veneer '60s) and we saved a lot of money. If you happen to hear anything more specific, please let me know. We can't move the house as its pretty old and we wanna build a nice house on the land which has very good views. Now I just deal with Sutherland shire...hmmm..that could be interesting... what kind of pool ? 8Apr 05, 2008 12:28 pm Is the pool concrete or fibreglass ?
There is a company here in Perth who removes fibreglass below ground pools & infills free of charge - they then recoat, clean & resell the pool. May be a company in your area that does it ? (if yours is fibreglass of course !) Re: House and pool demolition site costs 10Apr 06, 2008 10:11 am There are companies out there that will pay you money to dismantle the bricks and cut the house so it can be transported away, to be later sold to some one else.
Maybe worth considering, as you dont spend any of your own money.... Easy enough to do, Builders get onsite trades while working on your build to put pool slabs and brick walls in during house builds. Tho, I've never seen one pass the… 10 12446 ![]() I am not sure whether Perth has its own way of doing things in regards to this. Most of Perth has class A (sandy soil), except for some areas near rivers or hills. 2 2497 Is anyone building with Mojo and have a recent site cost tender 0 1748 |
