Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 14, 2017 5:36 pm Hi there We are in the process of having working drawings done for submission to council. We have received the NSW New Home Builder's Grant which totals $5K reduction of our stamp duty. One of the conditions of the grant is construction of the home, by way of laying foundations, must commence within 26 weeks (or a longer period allowed by the Chief Commissioner) of completion of the purchase Our 26 week window expires on 17/4/17. As our plans will not be submitted to council for a few weeks it is highly unlikely that we will have it approved and foundations laid before this date. We have to have a custom build due to the very steep slope on the block and we have had trouble finding a builder willing to take the project. Does anyone know whether it is possible to get an extension on the 26 weeks given that we will have signed contracts and submitted to council?i If so what were the "special circumstances" under which it was granted?
