Much happier. He is great. We spent today (from 9am - 4pm) oiling the jarrah for the deck. There were four of us oiling, and my dad was stacking. Was a full on day. We are all exhausted! Saved some money doing it ourselves though. The tiler popped in at one stage and did some sanding prep work for the wet areas. Here are some pics of the frame for the deck. We have Tas Oak hand rails and posts. Then we have ugly treated pine for the steps and frame. Not sure what I should do with with the treated pine? Paint it? What colours? We are having cable balustrade. We have put the second coat on it for extra protection. Probably won't be doing the last until after we've moved in. There is too much dust everywhere. It gets dirtied up so quickly. But we love it! Many nights will be spent entertaining out here. I will be painting the posts sometime and possibly staining the hand rail to better match the Jarrah down the track. It seems like more is happening inside but I haven't been able to get in and have a look. Fixtures seems to be going in as well as toilet and shower. I have a horrible feeling they might of put a shower base in rather than the tiled shower floor. Time will tell. Painters haven't done the feature walls yet. I was also told they'd be painting the dutch gable. I'll have to keep an eye on that. We were told a possible end date to be the 8th of March! That would be nice. How long does it take to get certificate of occupancy, home insurance, and final payment? Hope there aren't too many delays. We are itching to move in. The toilet is in as well. Oven is in, and the stove top is sort of in? Maybe the benchtop wasn't cut to size. Not too sure. The feature walls are painted and look pretty awesome in my opinion! I can't wait to get in and take some proper pictures to share with you. The end date has been pushed back to March 15th because the tiler delayed things. I have a question, is the end date usually the date you get the keys? Because our current rental lease runs out on the 25th and they won't extend it any further than that!? Help!! I need experienced people to let me know. The bank won't make the final payment until we have certificate of occupancy but we don't get that until a few days before the 15th. Eeek. Stressing out now! Build thread : /viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60288 Re: First Home in Tas - Final Stage 86Mar 01, 2013 6:16 pm sorry cannothelp but your deck is fantastic. it can be a worrying time and hopeful someone can help Re: First Home in Tas - Final Stage 87Mar 01, 2013 8:08 pm I imagine the end date could be a few things - I think the fly screens are pretty much the last thing to go on, but they won't let you move in until you've paid anyway. Have you booked in like a walk through with them? What date is that for? As long as your bank is on their game, you should be right! P.s. that deck looks FAB! 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: First Home in Tas - Final Stage *new pics* 88Mar 05, 2013 12:24 pm I'm feeling a lot more relaxed about the handover now. Thanks StellaBella. We met with site supervisor today. I was so excited to see that they had started the bamboo floating floors! They look a lot nicer than I could of imagined. But I forget to get a picture!! But I got pictures of other stuff. Yay. Feature wall in the bedroom. Dulux 'Domain'. The bamboo floor boards look awesome (and will look even better when they are clean!). The carpet is pretty good too. I think we could of gone a shade lighter so it looked creamier. Oh well. Not bad. I haven't visited recently but I think the house has been cleaned. If all goes well with the bank handover should be tomorrow! Or at least early next week. YAY. Build thread : /viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60288 Re: First Home in Tas - Handover 96Mar 15, 2013 6:05 am congrats on the news all the best for bank handover Re: First Home in Tas - Handover 98Mar 18, 2013 12:13 pm No keys on Friday but we got the inspection out of the way. A few touch ups here and there and one slightly stiff sliding door but that's about it so far. We'll see what else we can find after we move in. The place looks all nice and clean. Fly screens and aesthetic bars on the big living room window are due to go in today. Everything else looks pretty much the same, but the kitchen was finished and cleaned. Looked really cool. Also got a lovely hamper from the builders. Hopefully the bank gets their act together and we can get the keys this week and start moving boxes over. We've already booked the removalist for Sunday as our rental lease runs out on Monday. :O Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Build thread : /viewtopic.php?f=31&t=60288 Re: First Home in Tas - Handover 100Mar 18, 2013 12:55 pm Congratulations!!!
