Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Redink Homes - Can't decide on windows! 21Nov 19, 2012 12:51 pm don't worry about typos...i usually use my phone for the forum too and grammar goes out the window! i love the random limestone look!! its so much nicer than plain render we are not doing too well with our colour selections...we have a general idea of what we want but nothing actually picked out :s our benchtops will end up being a light coloured essastone but there are so many to pick from! at the moment our colour scheme is stoney kind of creams and greyish browns inside and out. hopefully we will be able to get organised in December and put some selections on paper! we had a look through redinks prestart room before we signed up, found out the prices for most of the upgrades we wanted but now that list is growing and things that we didn't realise were upgrades...are...and the prices they want are ridiculous so anything we can do after handover we will! this will probably include half the kitchen and laundry...will save us thousands and get us a better selection of laminates! bit scary though... hopefully we bump into you and the kids at some stage will be great for them once the parks are finished! Im looking forward to the coffee shop...haha but i have a strange feeling its been given the axe? Re: Redink Homes - Can't decide on windows! 22Nov 19, 2012 1:03 pm Oh gosh I hope not! I LIVE on coffee haha. My nespresso machine gets a work out that's for sure! Might ring Rob and see what's happening. We were lucky with DH, he sees so many houses being built he already had a really good idea of what colours he wanted and when we built our last house, he chose most of the scheme because I was working so much before I had the kids, I just didn't have time. Last house looked good except for those dark laminates in the kitchen so I've trusted him again this time! The drainer is at the block now putting the soak wells in, was going to go for a drive to show my 2 year old the bobcat but the baby has fallen asleep so he'll have to wait for more action on Monday when the brickie gets there. At least you've got a general idea of colors you like, maybe by the time you really have to make some decisions there'll be more houses finished in the estate and you can see what else is going up. Maybe lol. Essastone is gorgeous, I really liked White Truffle, it's so sparkly and looks so clean and modern. I would have loved it but because there's so much bench in that kitchen it was out of our budget unfortunately. Apparently the park is meant to be finished early next year, that will be great. Re: Redink Homes - Can't decide on windows! 23Nov 19, 2012 1:08 pm Good job on settling with a builder, I have heard plenty of good things about Redink, the only -ve i ever here is regarding the upgrade costs etc. I like the front you have chosen and the colour scheme is awesome as well. Where are you building, did I miss that part of your post? Re: Redink Homes - Can't decide on windows! 24Nov 19, 2012 1:14 pm oooh i never thought to ask rob when i saw him a couple weeks ago! haha i just noticed that it doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere anymore? thought they may have made it vanish like they did with a big park in the corimbia estate...which is why we didn't end up buying there! Im so excited to get to watch your house going up! by the time yours is nearly finished ours should start! good thing you can rely on your hubby for colours...i ask my boyfriend something one week...noo that would look yuck...the next week ask the same question ...yeah that would be nice lets do that hahaha so if i ask enough times ill get the answer Im after eventually Re: Redink Homes - Can't decide on windows! 25Nov 19, 2012 1:23 pm Yeah he's good like that! He loves looking through the displays too so he has heaps of good ideas. We looked in corimbia too, so glad we didn't buy there. Way over priced I think and the location of Whiteman Edge is so convenient, we love living out here. We were the first house built at our old place and it was good to see all the new houses go up around us, but I am kinda glad there's going to be a few more at lock up before we really get started, it's good to move in and already have neighbors there. Your plan looks really good, nice big open space onto the alfresco, that's what I love about ours too. We have 5 bedrooms but one will be DH's study/man cave to escape the kids Re: Redink Homes - Can't decide on windows! 26Nov 19, 2012 1:26 pm hi Eddie we are building in brabham!
yeah redink have been excellent so far and some of their upgrades are quite reasonable but their cabinetry prices are depressing...a lot higher than the other builders we looked at but it was balanced out by being cheaper elsewhere in the build. i would recommend redink to friends but i would also say to get as many upgrades you can on the pcq, don't wait for prestart. brick walls are also a crazy price in general with all the builders..there are a couple small changes we would like to make to the plan but they would cost thousands in a few additional bricks...if we made the changes prior to signing pcq i have a feeling it wouldn't have cost anywhere near as much redink do let you supply some of your own items but i have to wait til prestart to get any solid info on that. Re: Redink Homes - Can't decide on windows! 27Nov 19, 2012 1:36 pm Hi Kat, My overhead cupboards and fridge recess are extras..... I thought the price was very reasonable...... we were very suprised when we receieved the quote hence why we decided to go ahead and order them and we are soo happy we did.... plus they are in laminex high gloss which usually is more expenisve then just the standard Re: Redink Homes - Can't decide on windows! 28Nov 19, 2012 1:37 pm we are so glad we didn't buy in corimbia as well! the 70k we saved by buying in brabham has gone into the house! we would have been way overbudget instead of just slightly over budget haha hopefully contracts and working drawings will turn up in the mail today and i can start pulling my hair out over the kitchen!
Re: Redink Homes - Can't decide on windows! 30Nov 19, 2012 1:45 pm hi Mary we took our plans to 3 cabinet makers and the bits we got quoted saved us roughly 3 grand...if it was only a grand then i wouldn't worry due to the hassle factor but i can easily spend 3 grand elsewhere hehe i was told it was $700ish to upgrade the kitchen to formica gloss no matter how big/small the kitchen is, do you know how much it is to upgrade to laminex gloss? i prefer the laminex gloss colours which i can get if we do after handover for the same price as formica.. Re: Redink Homes - Can't decide on windows! 33Nov 19, 2012 3:32 pm xxkatxx hi Eddie we are building in whiteman edge, brabham! yeah redink have been excellent so far and some of their upgrades are quite reasonable but their cabinetry prices are depressing...a lot higher than the other builders we looked at but it was balanced out by being cheaper elsewhere in the build. i would recommend redink to friends but i would also say to get as many upgrades you can on the pcq, don't wait for prestart. brick walls are also a crazy price in general with all the builders..there are a couple small changes we would like to make to the plan but they would cost thousands in a few additional bricks...if we made the changes prior to signing pcq i have a feeling it wouldn't have cost anywhere near as much redink do let you supply some of your own items but i have to wait til prestart to get any solid info on that. Very nice area, we are just down the road at Lexia in Ellenbrook, or will be at some point in the future anyway. I suppose with any builders upgrades in prestart are gonna absolutely hit you, we are trying to do as much as we can before that on the basis of what people have said before. Yeah, we were widening our house a couple of metres and it would of cost thousands more, its ridiculous. Good luck though and I look forward to following your build Re: Redink Homes - Can't decide on windows! 34Nov 22, 2012 1:51 pm Just been at the block, our bricks are there yay! So are the bricks for lot 412. There's a big pile of sand on your block, blueprint will be getting rid of it soon! So exciting, the street is seeing a bit of action Re: Redink Homes - Can't decide on windows! 35Nov 22, 2012 2:18 pm might be a race between you guys and 412! we won't have any action on our block for a while so the sand is all good! ill have to go check out your lovely red bricks, they will really stand out nicely cause it seems most people have gone for the cream colour. we got our drawings and contracts in the mail...oh my gosh...i didn't think this building a house business was going to be so hard haha hope you get good brickies Re: Redink Homes - Can't decide on windows! 36Nov 22, 2012 2:29 pm The brickie is someone DH knows, Blueprint use him on all the display houses so he'll do a good job! The bricks are SO dark though, darker than I thought and our roof is monument so it's going to be so dark DH assures me it'll be fine so I'll trust him, he reckons he's built a few houses with those vintage red bricks and it always looks good, the limestone wall will be a real contrast. Gah I'm nervous now lol. It is all so final! I'm starting to doubt my colour choices in the kitchen too, wondering if it'll be too light even though I've seen 3 kitchens and the laminex display kitchen is the the same colors and they all look great. You're right, it is all so hard! Re: Redink Homes - Can't decide on windows! 37Nov 22, 2012 3:19 pm your house will look gorgeous!!! i can actually imagine it all together and it will be very different to our external colours too! i looked up your kitchen colours the other day and you have nothing to worry about there either will be gorgeous inside and out Re: Redink Homes - Can't decide on windows! 38Nov 22, 2012 3:53 pm Aw thanks for that!! Feeling very reassured I did see one other house that has the same bricks as ours in the estate so they can't be all that bad if someone else chose them haha Will wait with anticipation for your colour selections! Re: Redink Homes - Can't decide on windows! 39Nov 22, 2012 4:33 pm i think the reason most of the houses in our estate have the cream bricks is because its the cheapest option. i love the red bricks! very classy especially with a dark roof your hubby did well hmmm my colour selections are still a bit non existent haha hoping the interior design consultation will fix that! currently going through the plans marking out all our changes...they are going to hate us on prestart day!! :s Re: Redink Homes - Can't decide on windows! 40Nov 22, 2012 7:36 pm Did redink provide the designer as part of their package? I'm sure I saw some builders offering that, such a good idea! Trust my DH to spend more money on the bricks! I would have put it AAAAALLLLLL into my beautiful kitchen lol Natural stone tiles like slate, travertine, and limestone add a timeless, elegant look to… 0 26318 2 4205 Hi Alex, Thanks for the reply again. I had a chat with the builder, he said he will use primer, then hydrotec which comes with colour and sealer as well. A Renderer I… 12 18179 |
