Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 08, 2012 12:17 pm Hello, I am new to this board.. My partner and I have bought a 700sqm block in Byford on the Scarp. We have met with Home Group WA (previously SPH) and have decided to go with the Monte Carlo with a few variations. Has anyone else built this design before? We are having a few variations drawn up this week and hope to have something by this weekend to make changes to (again!). I will keep things posted. Re: Home Group WA - Monte Carlo - Byford on the Scarp 2Oct 17, 2012 7:41 pm Hi Chloe, Congratulations on the purchase of your block. OH and I are also building on the Scarp with SPH / HGWA. If you've had a drive around the estate we're the block with the slab down since early September and not much else bar a delivery of bricks to date. We are building a different design to the Monte Carlo but if you need any information in relation to our site costs, prestart costings etc, feel free to pm me. Good luck with your build. Re: Home Group WA - Monte Carlo - Byford on the Scarp 3Oct 17, 2012 7:50 pm Hi & welcome,we are just up the road building in Bedfordale with Ventura. Make sure you make all your changes before pre-start,so think long & hard about what you want. Even better if before contact is signed because they will do some favours to get you to sign up. And enjoy the journey, its a bump ride sometimes. Oh & dont forget we all like pict's Block bought 1st RBC X! 2nd Ventrua,Keeper! They also use some excellent brickies...neatest brickwork I've ever seen! It's finally happening! And welcome, congrats on the start of your building journey I've just moved into our new home built by SPH (HGWA) and they were amazing. As JJs said, you won't be disappointed with quality good luck! Re: Home Group WA - Monte Carlo - Byford on the Scarp 6Oct 29, 2012 10:53 pm I met with Phil Davis yesterday from HGWA as we we wanted to change builders as currently with Ross North. I was really sceptical but couldn't believe how helpful he was. We are also building the monte carlo with a few variations to put our own touch on it. Our block doesn't even title till march and he still took the time to show us different specs etc and different price on the changes we want to make. The monte carlo is slightly to big for our block 450 sqm in atwell but he straight away came up with great ideas to modify to fit. Any additional info would be great from anyone who has built with HGWA. So far we feel much more relaxed after speaking to these guys. Re: Home Group WA - Monte Carlo - Byford on the Scarp 7Jan 12, 2013 10:43 am Hi Chloe, We are currently also building the monte Carlo with HGWA! We signed our paperwork middle Dec! Land was meant to be titled but still no word! The waiting game now to hear what's going on! For any information/prices for upgrades, etc on HGWA (formerly SPH), you can read through my thread, Jen's thread, JJ's thread, and Chuffy's thread. We have all either moved in/almost reached PCI/handover. Hopefully some info in our threads will help any questions you have! Re: Home Group WA - Monte Carlo - Byford on the Scarp 9Sep 05, 2013 11:29 pm Just been through pre-start with Home Group WA. Had a lot of problems with their salesman communicating with their office. Took us months to get here, even now we did not get what we wanted unless the plans went back to engineering, even though the salesman said it wouldn't need to. Needless to say this salesman has left the company. Do not have a lot of confidence at this stage with what might happen next, but we're pressing on. This is our fourth build, so we know what to expect or thought we did. The reports throughout this forum seem to give HomeGroup a good wrap. I hope we get that experience from this point on. Would welcome any correspondence regarding Home Group. Thanks for reading. Re: Home Group WA - Monte Carlo - Byford on the Scarp 10Sep 17, 2013 6:28 pm Hi Peter111, We're building the Monte Carlo with HGWA in Lakelands and almost complete. I'd have to say the pre-start was excellent and service beforehand was great. Now service has dropped off completely, so much so we've been told we can't speak to our Site Supervisor until practical completion and any time we wanted to speak to our SS in the past, we've had to go through head office, which is quite often just an answering machine to leave a message. The SS never rang us back on more than one occasion. Talk about frustrating! Our recent problems include the lack of workmanship of our cornices, gaps between the cornice and walls, and improper sanding back on the corners before painting started, and the SS not picking up on this problem and/or passing the work without checking properly. Needless to say we are not impressed as the reason we went with them was due to their high quality workmanship. We've also had problems with the wrong basins being installed and having to insist they raise a variation to change it back to ones similar to our upgraded ones. They told us they notified of a change in supplier, yet we never received any of that paperwork! I hope your experience is different to ours. 4 14454 We already paid for somfy motors for the blinds. The quote above was purely for “pre-wiring” so the blinds company can install the motors and blinds.
