I really want something like this in our new master bedroom, and I'm wondering if anyone has had it done as part of their build? Or is it something you have to add later? I don't mind adding it later if it's doable, but many of the pictures I like have the units being flush with the walls and ceilings (with their own cornices) as if they were built as part of the house.

We don't necessarily need it that big, and I like the idea of jutting the window out like a wall recess for the benchseat, but I also like the idea of having some shelf space around it for my hubby's book collection and maybe even some space for a TV if we ever get one in the bedroom.
Any input would be appreciated! We've included $400 in our budget to spend on a wall recess, but I'm happy to use it for this instead, I just don't want it to cost a fortune.
Here is our master bedroom floorplan, we want this on the back window wall of the Master.
