Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Our small build (NOR WA) - Skirting question 1062Jul 30, 2013 10:03 am No idea!! Particularly such a range, though what I find most interesting is the quotes are either just under $1000 or nearly $2000 there weren't any in the middle.... Re: Our small build (NOR WA) - Skirting question 1063Jul 30, 2013 10:23 am There would be a lot of labour Re: Our small build (NOR WA) - Skirting question 1064Jul 30, 2013 3:28 pm There's a lot of cuts and joins when laying skirting boards and its a pain in the bottom job, on your knees, getting up and cutting, fiddly stuff. We're using a skirting guy someone recommended on this forum, communication has been good so far, he's starting part of our job next week. But we're paying $14.30/lm but our skirting is 140mm wide, the smaller skirting he does is around $10/lm supplied and laid. Re: Our small build (NOR WA) - Skirting question 1065Jul 30, 2013 4:19 pm Yeah I am happy to pay to have the job done well but the higher quotes come in at over $20/m which seemed a little steep... Our house needs under 70m... But two have quoted that high so seems strange... Can't work out what I'm getting for twice the price... Re: Our small build (NOR WA) - Skirting question 1066Jul 30, 2013 6:00 pm Mine works out to be $20/m but that's painted where your quotes was install only not painted so I'd agreed that's little steep. Could you please pm me his details and let me know how he did, thanks:) My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=64437 Re: Our small build (NOR WA) - Skirting question 1068Jul 30, 2013 8:56 pm fmac. Just got my other quote and its around $2k so more than double my other quote. Youre right seems be just under $1k or around $2k for exactly the same thing :/ SD - does your guy include painting? Re: Our small build (NOR WA) - Skirting question 1069Jul 30, 2013 9:51 pm Leanne are you getting the house painted? Our painter is doing ours once they've been installed, said its best to paint the walls after there installed so he'll do it all Re: Our small build (NOR WA) - Skirting question 1070Jul 30, 2013 9:53 pm Yeah we are getting a painter. Walls will be painted before floors go down and skirtings after floor so having them installed for painter won't work Re: Our small build (NOR WA) - Skirting question 1071Jul 30, 2013 10:03 pm Yep makes sense! Our flooring is only down because of having to do through the builder! I am going to look at all the quotes tonight to see if I can see any differences... Re: Our small build (NOR WA) - PCI delayed :( 1072Jul 31, 2013 11:30 pm Well I knew it must be too good to be true! Got a call from our CL today to say we can't have PCI on Friday and it will now be next Wednesday Apparently the SS has been let down by a few trades and they won't be finished and cleaned by Friday. What I find frustrating is they just don't care that after they booed us in my partner took holidays based on that date and we booked the painter. Everything else has gone so well and it's been a pretty smooth ride so I guess something had to eventually not go to plan! I hate how builders don't understand that people have jobs they can't just take a half day off at the drop of a hat, I'm a teacher so this is more so for me. Add to that the latest they will do is 1:45 that means a half day off work as I have to go from bull creek to pearsall. Moan over!! On another note I have a 5th quote for skirting and this one is also the sub $1000 mark. Now to work out what the ones charging double that offer!! Re: Our small build (NOR WA) - PCI delayed :( 1073Aug 01, 2013 12:00 am Sorry to hear that PCI has been rescheduled Finger's crossed there will be very little to fix after PCI and you don't have to wait the full 10 working days for handover. fmac I hate how builders don't understand that people have jobs they can't just take a half day off at the drop of a hat It's so frustrating isn't it, even more so considering they can't do anything at the drop of a hat! Our custom Gemmill Home in Bedfordale WA Build thread:https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=53788 Timeline on page 1 Re: Our small build (NOR WA) - PCI delayed :( 1074Aug 01, 2013 12:09 am Fmac that sucks!! My below $1k quote is from wa skirting boards Re: Our small build (NOR WA) - PCI delayed :( 1075Aug 01, 2013 12:17 am Yeah they don't even reply to my emails straight away, been waiting three days for a reply about the oven, the other half asked on the phone today. At first she said she hasn't checked her emails then said she was looking into it and would get back to us today!! Pretty sure it's just the paving and then site clean that needs doing. Can't domain Wednesday will be 19 weeks since slab down.... Leanne yeah I'm thinking ill go with one of the ones around $1000 I'm not sure the two quoting nearly $2000 are doing anything special. Though one of the high end quotes followed up with me today to see if we wanted it done, might ask what he does that the $1000 guys don't Re: Our small build (NOR WA) - PCI delayed :( 1077Aug 01, 2013 12:22 am If I still worked in an ossicle it wouldn't be an issue. But as it is I am only in a contract position so trying to make a good impression and having to take time off does not do that!! Thankfully of all the afternoons I could have off Wednesday is probably the easiest. Not telling them that!! Re: Our small build (NOR WA) - PCI delayed :( 1078Aug 01, 2013 12:31 am Sucks mate - hope it doesn't get delayed again. I know what you mean about the 'drop of a hat' thing. Long story Re: Our small build (NOR WA) - PCI delayed :( 1079Aug 01, 2013 12:55 am I feel a little guilty complaining considering other people's problems with their builds but it is more they just don't seem to care! If they didn't think it would be done just don't boo it in the start with!! Donna I hope it isn't too serious and that your also going to be finished soon and be able to move into your beautiful home!! Re: Our small build (NOR WA) - PCI delayed :( 1080Aug 01, 2013 1:10 am oh noooo! how disappointing yea 19 weeks is still pretty good but when you're so close to getting keys, 1 week is a LONG wait.
