Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 01, 2008 10:38 pm Hi - Stumbled across this website and love the concept.
We have recently purchased in Marriott Waters and I have seen a few members have too. Hope all is going well for you guys. We are building with PD (cottesloe) - pretty exciting. Another question on the street house choices.. How can you find out if your neighbours have the same house/facade.. I know you can't have the same as your 3 or so neighbours. Our next stage is the colour and selection process and of course the Standard Range has much to be desired. Particularly with Bricks mostly, we'll take standard on as much as possible. We checked out Hopetoun Interiors on the w.end but they won't tell you the price difference between the ranges. Does anyone know how to find this out or have any advise on this next process. We want to be able to go to the main appointment knowing how much the upgrades are, check them against our budget to ensure we don't overspend and just lock stuff in. Cheers, Lea Building in Lyndhurst Carlisle Atlantique Re: Hi from newbie - building in Marriott Waters with PD 2Apr 02, 2008 6:52 am Welcome Lea, hope you enjoy it here as much as I.

Is this something you can ask the developer? Maybe they dont want that to happen as well and will have the info? Its frustrating not knowing how much things are, we nearly built with PD and at Hopetoun Interiors we were given the advise that choose what you want then a back up from the standard range if you find it priced too high..not the ideal.. The are lots on here who are or have built with them, so they may ba able to give you some prices. We were looking at a Cat 4 brick so the cost should be $1500 for the upgrade. Will have and wait and see how accurate that is. Re: Hi from newbie - building in Marriott Waters with PD 5Apr 02, 2008 9:50 am We also have the situation of not being allowed to have the same facade as nearby houses.....not sure how many houses apart but similar to your covenant, I believe. Although I have seen some neighbouring houses in our estate that are basically identical, however the brick is a different colour.

The main thing to do is get your House plans lodged with Marriott Water ASAP.... PD usually do this automatically (they are good like that)....but always make sure. I made a few calls and have some more informaton now but I have to say the colour selection process is so complicated. What stage are you building in at Marriott Waters??? Tracey & Paul Taylor Living in Marriott Waters Burbank Homes - Camellia 2900 (29.8sq) Land settlement - 8/05/2008!!! Building started - 5/06/08!!! House settlement - 17/10/08!! YAY!! Re: Hi from newbie - building in Marriott Waters with PD 10Apr 02, 2008 10:37 pm Hi L ea ive built the Heywood 28 handover is is next week. Ive only seen the cottlesloe on a plan.. would be interesting to follow your building journey if your going to create a blog.
would love to see some pics as you build Re: Hi from newbie - building in Marriott Waters with PD 11Apr 02, 2008 11:21 pm The Hopetoun people will give you prices and my advice is to take them with a grain of salt - half the time they have no idea what they're talking about. All the prices they gave me were way off.
Also I found that my Cat 4 brick was $1880 (hopetoun thought it would be $800). But it was the roof tiles that were the killer - Cat 4 roof tiles are about $3500-$4500 extra. Basically if you want the modern flatter style they cost a fortune. Re: Hi from newbie - building in Marriott Waters with PD 12Apr 03, 2008 8:24 pm ptmtaylor Hi Lea and welcome!!!!! What stage are you building in at Marriott Waters??? We are building in stage 3 - was told initially June-July settlement - then July August then at signing of the contract Aug-Sept... Tippen they have NO idea.. Building in Lyndhurst Carlisle Atlantique Re: Hi from newbie - building in Marriott Waters with PD 13Apr 03, 2008 8:32 pm We had actually brought the Cottesloe without seeing it.. We have always loved the Heywood and when we saw the plans for the Cottesloe we realised its identical but with a study. Figured for the extra $1k was prob worth having.
Saw it on display in Point Cook on the weekend and really happy with our selection. Its a really beautiful house and terrific layout for family life. Indend to get a good 20yrs outta this house, so big investment. Thanks for the pricing, that's so helpful. We have included a colourbond roof so the tile selection won't be a prob. I will create a blog when something starts to happen. We made an enquiry as to why we have to have a August start date and what the cost is if you want a Sept start. Its $2k for us to change the date to either Sep, Oct or Nov which they say is pretty cheap. Not sure what my thoughts are.. Might stick with the August date just don't know what will happen with our block or when it will be ready if they are already talking Aug-Sep.. Building in Lyndhurst Carlisle Atlantique Re: Hi from newbie - building in Marriott Waters with PD 14Apr 03, 2008 8:51 pm I can't beleive that PD, not sure on all builders, want to lock you in to a start date and then charge you a lot of money because the developer is not ready hwen you are guessing what the release date will be.
I think that sucks.... we haven't been charged for anything like that with our builder and there has been no mention of lock in date, but we will be starting approx the week after the plans from council are approved, hopefully this week for approval and within 2 weeks to start building. We are in stage one of MW... If we were building with PD, christ I would be up for a fortune, as we were initally told Oct 07, then Nov 07, Jan 27-08 and finally late Feb. Titles released 14th Feb. I can only imagine the figure this would have added to our build... Are most builders like this???? As ours wasn't.... Latest update on MW website say stage 3/4 have an October / Nov release date- so maybe look at changing you start date if you have booked it yet I think that is crazy - we were orginally going to buy in Mermaid grove and they said june/July. we are buidling in MW to so we'll see you round!! Really..Stage 3/4 now Oct/Nov MW .. and updates on selection 16Apr 12, 2008 8:32 pm OMG I just read these post updates.. That's just crazy to now be looking toward Oct/Nov, when will it stop being extended when its still so far out
I have our Tender appointment on Thursday and will be asking for some serious justification for a price increase based on start date.. I feel for everyone who has to pay rent during that time - you'd want to have a very flexible contract. Glad to find neighbours building in MW with us.. Will enjoy chatting as the progress continues. We have been doing lots of study on paint, bricks, laminex, tiles.. etc all in preparation for our colour selection appointment coming up in a couple of weeks. FYI - We have narrowed our brick choice to PD Boral Cat 2 Ripponlea and have likes in a Cat 4, Cat 5 and Cat 6 but will depend on price. Colorbond Roof in ShaleGrey for best efficiency with Woodland Grey guttering, garage door, windows and downpipes. Kitchen has stone benchtops - and I think we will chose a flat chocolate laminex for the cupboards and overheads and maybe a caramel glass splashback but realistically we change our minds daily.. We have chosen a laminex that looks like the stone to go in both bathroom tops and will have the chocolate underneath. The tiles in the bathrooms and laundry and the one colour paint throughout we are *** and going with the one PD use in many of their display homes.. particularly in the Heywood houses. But we haven't seen the other tiles to be temped to change as yet. So far enjoying the homework. Building in Lyndhurst Carlisle Atlantique Re: Hi from newbie - building in Marriott Waters with PD 17Apr 12, 2008 9:00 pm great choices, they sound great-Lea.
know it's crazy ( about the delays) we are lucky as we are not paying rent but still......... bad for people who are.. We got our color approval as well fom MW. Re: Hi from newbie - building in Marriott Waters with PD 18Apr 12, 2008 11:00 pm JoBen,
When did you get your colour approval from MW???? And how long ago did you put it in for approval?? Re: Hi from newbie - building in Marriott Waters with PD 19Apr 12, 2008 11:13 pm hey guys,
PD must have submitted our plans to the developer- we didn't actually do anything, the only reason we know that it got okayed is because our CSR emailed us to let us know..... she's great like that. I'm assuming PD did it after our colour selection appt?? maybe burbank have done it for you?? Re: Hi from newbie - building in Marriott Waters with PD 20Apr 12, 2008 11:23 pm We're still waiting for Burbank to get back to us with our site costs!!!!!
So hopefully they have got the exterior colours submitted to MW already....... Tracey & Paul Taylor Living in Marriott Waters Burbank Homes - Camellia 2900 (29.8sq) Land settlement - 8/05/2008!!!
