Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 04, 2012 10:09 am We paid the deposit and so it looks like we are signing away with Urban Edge Homes! Praying for a smooth and easy ride. We have selected the Auturn 005 and have made modifications to the plans so it is has been great to be able to customise the plan to suit our requirements. We have chosen this facade but will have white render with Domino (charcoal) feature frame section. Would really love everyone's thoughts on them. Can you utilize the under stair space for a theatre room cupboard, great space to have all the equipment. As usual I will leave all the orientation questions to the experts Re: Building the Autern 005 with Urban Edge 9Oct 08, 2012 9:30 pm gogo65 Love it A few little observations, the door into pantry opening inwards near fridge, could be a problem, could you change to a cavity slider? Can you utilize the under stair space for a theatre room cupboard, great space to have all the equipment. As usual I will leave all the orientation questions to the experts Thanks GOGO! I really wanted a cavity slider in the door leading into pantry too however as there will be a steel beam going across to support the upstairs balcony so they said they could not put a cavity slider in for this reason. I have begged them but there is nothing they can do apart from getting rid of the balcony which i will never do. So Door it is. However, it isn't shown on this plan but we have reversed the direction of the door opening so it doesn't impact on our fridge space. The staircase will be open stairs, so it's a feature to be able to see through. Building the Autern 005 with urbanedge Homes Re: Building the Autern 005 with Urban Edge 10Oct 11, 2012 9:28 pm We have been informed by UE that due to the house design having a flat roof, they are unable to install ducted heating and refrigerated cooling and are looking at alternatives for us. So disappointed! Surely there are others with flat roofs that have had ducted heating and ref cooling installed??? Building the Autern 005 with urbanedge Homes Re: Building the Autern 005 with UE 11Nov 17, 2012 10:27 am Hi Crystally, Thank you for this thread, we are just about to sign with UE for Autern 005, we also have made some changes to their plan on first floor mainly, but i love the idea on your plan to extend the garage section to the back for storage, that saves you from buying a shed for lawn mowers etc... I will look forward to your updates and keep you posted what is happening with ours, this could be helpful. Re: Building the Autern 005 with UE 12Nov 23, 2012 7:58 am Hi Saima that's so great! Where are you building? Have you got floor plans yet? Are you going with the same facade as us or one of the other ones? I'm so excited you are also building the autern!! Building the Autern 005 with urbanedge Homes Re: Building the Autern 005 with UE 13Nov 23, 2012 8:38 am Wow Crystally what a house. I remember answering on your kitchen thread and had to come and have a look at your plan. Love the kitchen and the his and hers wir, wish we had a better wir...maybe next house if I survive this one. Where are you up to, still discussing floorplan? Re: Building the Autern 005 with UE 14Nov 23, 2012 12:07 pm Thanks so much TashnStu77. I love the kitchen also, i just hope it turns out the way i am visualising it. At the moment we are just about to sign the final Tender and are awaiting the Final floor plans and elevations so they can be approved and then the Contract will be drawn. Stressful but oh so very exciting! Building the Autern 005 with urbanedge Homes Re: Building the Autern 005 with UE 15Nov 24, 2012 11:10 pm Hi Crystally, We are in Melbourne, Its a knockdown and rebuild and that is a lot of additional cost as we are finding out but love where we live so i think it will be worth it We decided not to go with the timber facade as it is high maintenance, but i must say it looks absolutely stunning. we are doing the standard and will look into rendering maybe? we have made many changes to the plan, rotated the rooms to the side and have a larger rumpus with a full open balcony to capture city views, fingers crossed no objections from the council :/ we have our rough sketches, i will see if i can post here possibly and that may be helpful for someone. we are going for our first tender meeting before Christmas. Soil testing on Tuesday, (part of knockdown rebuild) I hope we continue to share notes about our experiences as we go Re: Building the Autern 005 with UE 16Nov 26, 2012 7:32 am Thanks Saima. Knockdown and rebuild is tough but it will be wonderful once it's all complete especially if you love the area you are in. Which side of the city are you? You could always do the rendering afterwards with a cheaper contractor if you decide. Would love to see the sketches especially as i'm very interested in to see where your balcony is. It was an effort for us to convince UE to structure in a balcony the way we wanted it so i'm glad our efforts have now paid off for you and hopefully others too. We chose to have the balcony at the back as our back yard is overlooking a beautiful lake. Let me know if you need help in how to post the sketches on here. We can definitely share notes! Give yourselves plenty of time for the tender appointment. Read through the Colour Hub book thoroughly before you go and in fact, go visit the showrooms for the suppliers in the hub book (mainly for the tiles and carpet) so that you know exactly what you want when you go in for the tender appointment. Is this the time you will also do your colour appointment? I found they didn't have much of an extensive range of tiles and carpets/flooring to choose from at their offices so we did a lot of running around to Beaumont tiles and Carpet Call. Building the Autern 005 with urbanedge Homes Re: Building the Autern 005 with UE 17Nov 28, 2012 12:15 am Hi Crystally , we are in Coburg North and yes plz tell me how to load the sketches... we are going for full roof over the balcony, initially they were having issues to ensure the water tightening of the balcony as we have living room and Alfresco under it. then we decided to do the full roof. would love to show you the plan. Thanks you for the advise, i have started looking at color schemes and tiles and carpets... in standard category there are not many choices i found. Here is a link i find really good with hundreds of pics of Display homes style decor, i find it helpfull for color schemes. https://www.studiom.com.au/stmscripts/g ... y=bedrooms Re: Building the Autern 005 with UE 18Nov 28, 2012 9:30 am Saima we are also getting a full roof over our balcony. That's great they were able to work it out for you. Also, which staircase and void balustrading did you choose? We chose the cantilevered stairs and the Metal rods balustrading. Would have loved the glass but it was ridiculously expensive. So to put pictures on here, you need to set up an account with Photobucket then upload photos onto their and then paste the IMG code of the photo in your messages here. Let me know if you need further explanation or help with this.
