Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 30, 2012 3:26 pm Hi All, We are thinking of doing the Solar Power system from PD using their Energy Saver promo.. Just wondering if anyone had any comments/info about the type of solar panels they install? My father has solar panels, and they don't collect power on dull days, where as my uncle has another type of panel and even on a dull day he is collecting solar power.. Just wondering if anyone knows the brand or type of panel they use? Mel Re: Solar Power System by PD 2Sep 30, 2012 6:55 pm My system uses Kaneka Thin Film Panels basically they were a similar price per kw but much larger in area. Solar Power System by PD 3Sep 30, 2012 8:03 pm Thanks for the reply bashworth.. While I understand what your panels r generating, it doesn't really tell me if they will generate power on a cloudy day. HD Re: Solar Power System by PD 4Sep 30, 2012 11:12 pm I think its more important to look at the best all-round solution rather than worry just about cloudy days. (Things like the angle that the panel is mounted can also affect cloudy day generation) The best guide to all round performance is the Desert Knowledge Centre ( there is a link on my blog page link above) They have set up panels at the same angle at the same location and can provide information on the comparative performance.
