Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Building Ascot 35 with Carlisle- Roof on, Bricks startin 82Jan 20, 2013 5:32 pm Lots of a good progress on our build - but unfortunately an annoying issue is also cropping up. First to the build progress - roof tiles on, electricals in and bricks delivered, with bricks and plaster meant to start this week. Our SS had told us he will have us in by Easter, but I will not be betting the farm on it. Progress shot: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Then to the annoyance - the builders diagonally behind us (PD) are using our water for their bricklaying. I have confirmed with Carlisle that we are responsible for water costs during construction, I have called PD and complained and been told they will make sure it stops, and yet even today it is still happening. Every time I see it I disconnect their hose and put it off our property and take photos etc. Not super happy about that one! Otherwise, things are going well.... Seems like a lot of progress since I checked in here last. You must be stoked. Our build was actually using our neighbour's power (with their permission of course) for about 3 weeks before our power connected, so hopefully your water issue is just temporary! 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Building Ascot 35 with Carlisle- Roof on, Bricks startin 84Jan 20, 2013 5:51 pm It is temporary of course. I understand that it's a small amount of water and unlikely to amount to much - but there is a principle involved. No permission was sought, and when I spoke to our SS about it, he fobbed me off by saying that the water costs were paid by the builder during the construction - which I knew and have since confirmed was wrong. It seems to me that if the builder is going to put in the contact that I am responsible for the water AND that I am not allowed on the site during construction, then they are responsible for making an effort to protect it. The biggest irony is that there is another PD house under construction one house over from ours that DOES have water - so why are they taking ours and not theirs?? Like you said, the amount that they use might add up to a pittance but it's the principle. It's your water on your land for your dream, not theirs! Keep us posted with how it goes and what you hear back from the other site as well especially considering they're already aware. Why are they not taking water from block they are building on? Doesn't all that including power all get connected by council before building starts. That's actually for us how we knew that we were soon to start as we recieved our tap out the front. Re: Building Ascot 35 with Carlisle- Bricks and Plaster! 87Jan 23, 2013 10:18 am All I can say is that Carlisle certainly doesn't muck around! Progress is flying! Bricks progress - more than this but most recent pic: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And plaster is in! Finishing to start today - it REALLY feels like a house now. Our SS has kept telling us it's a really big house, and now that we can stand in it with walls we can feel it - which is what we wanted - not so much the huge bit but the sense of space for a family with pre-teens.
