Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 21, 2012 9:31 pm We are building with fairmont, and getting our interiors through Direct Interiors. I have a beautiful walk in robe but that, and all other robes only come with a top shelf and hanger. Any idea how much shelving and drawers will cost? Thanks! We have our selections appt on Tuesday! Eeek!! Re: Cost of adding shelves and drawers in walk in robe? 2Sep 22, 2012 8:36 am I didn't enquire at Direct Interiors how much it would cost for drawers and shelving. The built-ins alone sounded very expensive so I just assumed the same would be the case for the fitout. I did enquire after the build about installing shelves and drawers at a wardrobe place but the quote came back at $1300 for the WIR alone. They didn't want to reuse the shelf that Fairmont had already installed. In the end I just went to Howard's Storage World and bought a rail that sits 1 metre high and reaches the full length of one side of the wardrobe for $70, a couple of Kmart shoe racks for about $9 each and a tallboy for the bedroom for $500 (it was ex display). I haven't added any drawers or shelving to the built-ins as we don't need them yet. Re: Cost of adding shelves and drawers in walk in robe? 3Sep 22, 2012 1:56 pm Thank you. I do know that just one built in robe costs $600 but that's without any shelving! I'm thinking that it'll end up costing double! Anyone else got more of an idea? L shape design. We had builder delete their shelves from build and got a credit for it. That saved around $100. Meant our trade had blank canvas to work with. We got it done after handover.
