Hi there,
I've been searching all around the net and I have been totally unsuccessful at finding a clear answer. If anyone here could help me that would be much appreciated!
At the moment I am in the earliest stages of looking to build a house. I am looking at a piece of vacant land and I am also looking at home designs. I'm looking at a one story small-medium sized home to be built on the Central Coast.
Would anybody be able to give me some rough idea of about how long it would be before I would be able to move into a newly built home?
I've looked through these forums and from what I gather, a typical timeline might be along these lines:
Day 1 - first meeting with home builder (Masterton, Wisdom etc.)
3 months in - Contract signed with builder
4 months in - Colours chosen
5 months in - Council approval and work can begin
6 months in - Construction site set up?
7 months in - Site scraped?
8 months in - Slab poured?
11-12 months in - All finished and ready to move in.
Is that the kind of timeline that one would be looking at? I'm in a huge rush to have it completed, the absolute sooner the better. I've tried to see what kind of timeline others have been working to, but I'm not sure how much of a rush people have been in. I've also read on this forum about people who have had their plans sitting at council for months, and others who have taken 3 years+ to have a home finished.
If anyone could clear this up for me I would be so so grateful!
Thanks and take care,
- Will
