Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 21, 2014 9:52 am We want our builder to add in to our contract, so that it forms part of the contract, our estate's special conditions, but they aren't willing to budge on this at all. DH and I are of the opinion that if the origianl HIA contract covers any special conditions then the builder really wouldn't have an issue just adding in the estate's special conditions as it shouldn't really change the contract. But it does make us feel happy in secure that they are acknowleding the fact that the house must be built within certain perameters. Our builder is refusing point blank to make any changes to the contract. Did you manage to get your builder to change their contract is some way? How did you manage that? I simply raised concerns around various parts, explained why, and made it clear I wouldn't be signing with the contract in its un-amended form. Of course there was some discussion and some compromise around some items but I didn't sign until I was happy to. Completed a knock down and rebuild in northern Melbourne. Handover completed 27/09/2013 and now moved in. Re: Did you manage to get your builder to change the contrac 3Feb 21, 2014 3:34 pm Thanks. We are playing the waiting game at the moment. I personally think it is rude and arrogant for a builder to adopt this kind of stance. A very one-sided attitude. That's hardly 'customer service'. My builder happily accepted a few special conditions I wanted, including calling up the estate requirements. I also managed to negotiate $500 / week liquidated damages if they are late on the contract.
