Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 18, 2012 1:08 pm Hello all, Have been quoted $10k extra for a skillion roof - which looks lovely, but then again the hip valley roof option doesn't look too shabby either. Have been told that skillion roofs adds value to your house - anyone have any opinions on whether that's true or not, or does it just come down to taste and whether we can swallow the extra $10k for a roof (as my hubs puts it) that we're not even going to see most of the time! urno Re: Skillion or hip/valley roof ?????? 2Sep 18, 2012 4:15 pm I see many more bad skillion roofs than good ones so I would say it doesn't add to most houses. Without a picture I can't make any other comment. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Re: Skillion or hip/valley roof ?????? 3Sep 19, 2012 10:02 pm We're building a house with a skillion roof, just our personal preference really! Looks goooooood!! Plus we wanted to go for a more modern look, and not have the same boring roof as every other house in our estate. 10k sounds reasonable, some builders were telling us it would be about 30k extra! PS: allows for super awesome raking ceilings on the inside if that's what you want Why don't you call and talk with someone at the town planning in your council? 1 2192 thanks guys! yes this is how I've exactly raised it with the builder. still awaiting response. 12 6067 2 9458 |
