Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 17, 2012 6:17 pm Hi all, was wondering if someone could provide information or assistance.
I signed my building contract back in July, and have received a call from the builder today saying they have to put a contract variation though as my block will require 'bolts' - $200 each with 6 being required. Anyone know anything about these? Re: Slab Bolts and contract variation 2Sep 17, 2012 6:55 pm I'd be asking what they are for and if really required why they were not included in the engineering drawings/specs issued for council/building approval. How bolts are $200 each I also don’t understand. Is he talking about using ‘rockbolts’ somewhere? Ask your builder to supply you the engineering design/details before you sign off on the variation. ----------------------------------------------- http://pab34newdigs.blogspot.com.au/ ----------------------------------------------- Re: Slab Bolts and contract variation 5Sep 18, 2012 8:38 pm 1) Find out exactly what these "bolts" are. Get the engineering drawing and show us. 2) Decline the contract variation. It's only a request and you can accept or decline 3) If the engineering says you need them then they must be included (at no extra cost to you) The most important thing to get is the drawings showing these bolts. I cannot imagine what they are or why you need them. The drawing will tell all. Sounds like your builder is trying to get more money from you.
