Re: Building in Fernvale - Only 2 weeks!!!! 465May 27, 2013 3:36 pm Only 1 week today!!!!! We went and had a squiz today, and met the security screen man too. We'll probably have screens within a couple of days of moving in, which is great! We ended up choosing the Prowler Proof Forcefield screens. Flooring has been laid, driveway is in, and the rest of the lights are up! Paint touch-ups have been done, the only thing left is the alfresco tiles, and a really good clean of the whole house (it's really filthy right now *lol*)! Oh, and they've given us a concrete slab for our letterbox, and one of our friends' hubby is going to make up a nice brick letterbox with our leftover house bricks. This will probably happen before handover too. We're so close!!!! We would have wanted it darker so it blends in with the garage door, but right now is just mismatches everything. We actually forgot to choose a colour for this bit, so the builders chose for us. Not sure if we're entitled to ask to have it done in another colour, but if not, we'll have to repaint it ourselves. It just doesn't gel. Other than that, we are super happy! We LOVE the floors, they look exactly how we wanted them to, and once they're clean, they will look even better! On a different note, I didn't end up getting my surgery done on the 17th as planned; I was literally 10 seconds away from being put under anesthetic when someone came in and said it was cancelled due to complications with another patient, so I had to go home. Really disappointing because I've been in a lot of pain and we'd rearranged and planned everything around my surgery, and now it's been rescheduled to the 31st, which is 3 days before handover! This means I won't be able to help with the move, and I won't be able to unpack everything on the first day like I wanted! *lol* Oh well. Yeah, it's a bit odd, we think they probably tried to choose a colour close to the garage door, but they failed terribly. *lol* Settlement: 10.02.13 Slab: 06.03.13 Frame: 08.03.13 Lock-up: 05.04.13 Handover: 03.06.13 Build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59555 Brisbane Photography Re: Building in Fernvale - Floors and driveway! 1 Week!!! :D 468May 27, 2013 9:21 pm Looks great!! DH just got a call from our SS saying they might have to replace the bricks in one of the front pillars. Hopefully that doesn't add time to the build, because we are ready to get out of here! Now we have to make sure we will have enough bricks for the letterbox too; apparently they're using the leftovers (that we were planning to use for the letterbox) for the new pillar, but they might order another pallet if they reckon it might not be enough (crossing fingers). Settlement: 10.02.13 Slab: 06.03.13 Frame: 08.03.13 Lock-up: 05.04.13 Handover: 03.06.13 Build thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59555 Brisbane Photography Re: Building in Fernvale - Floors and driveway! 1 Week!!! :D 471May 29, 2013 8:24 pm Ricaaaa huh?!?!?! what happen to the pillar? Nothing apparently. *lol* DH called them today, and firstly, they told us the wrong thing, it's not the pillar, it's a different part of the house. Secondly, the reason they wanted to replace those bricks was because of something to do with the salt in the clay, and they looked different to all the other bricks. So now they've ordered more bricks, but it might not be taken care of until after handover, which is fine. We never noticed anything wrong with the bricks anyway, so we don't really care.
