Glad it's moving along. Re: Building in Fernvale - still waiting for site works 304Feb 25, 2013 12:21 pm Still waiting for the site works to begin. I'm getting very impatient now. I get that the weather has been crap, but they haven't even called to let us know an estimate time yet. Beginning of last week they said they were likely to start mid this week, but it's going to rain everyday so I don't imagine they can. So annoying. Really wish it would stop. Re: Building in Fernvale - still waiting for site works 306Feb 25, 2013 7:19 pm We weren't advised of any start dates or anything either, got here one day and the site had been cut, and then suddenly we had a slab! It is a nice surprise when it happens haha. Hopefully once the rain stops, everything dries out quickly for you so they can start site works! 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Building in Fernvale - still waiting for site works 307Feb 27, 2013 3:19 pm Well, rumour has it this is the last week of rain, so hopefully that's the case and they can start building next week. Still haven't heard anything from our SS though. I popped into the showroom today to get some photos of our carpets since I haven't been able to find any online, and I'd started to forget how they looked like! They're a lot darker than I remember, but I think they'll look good. We got some good news today - DH called the SS today and was told that they will start the slab prep tomorrow or Friday! Which means, if weather permits, we'll probably have a slab next week! I'm going there to have a look on Saturday so will take photos of however far they have gotten then. Apparently the site has been prepared with the steel mesh and everything ready for the concrete pour, and they're just waiting for a clear day without rain so they can pour the slab. Fingers crossed for this week! In other news, we got a letter saying our FHOG application has been approved, so that's a relief. Not that we had any doubt it would get approved, but you never know with this sort of thing, especially after all the trouble we've had with the bank. So good to know that's all sorted! Also had a bit of a health scare the last few weeks, might have to go in for keyhole surgery in a few weeks, and overall feeling quite drained and lethargic. Keep running to the doctor for B12 injections until it goes back to normal. I was really worried about the cost of the surgery as it's somewhere between $4k and $5k if you don't get it covered, but we're now 99% sure it will be covered. With the house, we really have no money leftover, so it was really freaking me out for a while! Will be back to update when we have a slab! I got there and expected to maybe see a slab if I were lucky! I'm a little disappointed that we haven't heard anything about it from our site supervisor... Aren't we supposed to pay a bill right about now? No one is telling us anything. *lol* And are we supposed to get an estimated finish date now that they've started construction? Might have to give our SS a call tomorrow. More photos coming, btw! Building the Ascot 35 with Carlisle Homes in Pasadena Estate, Clyde VIC My build thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59776 Re: Building in Fernvale - WE HAVE A SLAB & FRAMES! 316Mar 12, 2013 10:37 pm Congratulations! After all that waiting and hassles with the bank and now BAM a slab and frames. Great progress. Does the fence stay up for all of the build? Will you be able to get in after trades are gone for a wander through? Re: Building in Fernvale - WE HAVE A SLAB & FRAMES! 317Mar 13, 2013 6:10 pm I really don't know, Tash, I hope we will be able to have access. As I might have mentioned (not sure if I did or not), we were a bit worried that the slab AND the frames have gone up and we still haven't heard from our administrator about progress payments. So I called her today, and yes, we were in fact supposed to have gotten the first invoice last week! She said they will resend it so we'll get it next week, at the same time as the frames payment, so it will be a double whammy. Goes to show we really do have to be on top of everything. Anyway, the roof is next to go up (hopefully starting this week), then rough-outs (whatever that is), then bricks, and then all the internal stuff. Very excited to see the progress! I just hope they'll be more vigilant with updates from now on, because so far it's been terrible. I wanted to go and have a look yesterday, but when we called our SS he said no one was on site (including him), so there was no point. We're going next Monday, and he's going to be there, and we'll hopefully get a proper walk through.
