I can hardly remember our tile selection too, but I'm not stressing about it. Tiles was never a big deal for me, and we only have them in the wet areas. PICS! 366Apr 30, 2013 11:26 am I contacted the admin yesterday, because a couple of months ago we requested to have all the cabinet and drawer handles changed to all being horizontal (as opposed to drawers being horizontal and cabinets vertical). She said it was all taken care of and changed and they would now be installed with horizontal handles all over. Well, as you can see in the photos above, they weren't. So I e-mailed her and said that they hadn't been installed according to the change, but not to worry, it's not a big deal and we can live with them like this. She wrote back saying sorry and that they builders must not have gotten the memo about it, etc. Anyway, now we're in the process of getting a quote for tiling of the alfresco, which we will most likely go for. However, I'm worried that we will end up paying for it, and it won't get done because they're not communicating with each other. Hopefully that won't happen.... PICS! 369Apr 30, 2013 1:17 pm great news hopefully it will get done for you Re: Building in Fernvale - Handover in 6 weeks!! PICS! 370Apr 30, 2013 4:29 pm I would definitely get them to change the handles to the way you wanted them. If I am correct in what I am seeing in the kitchen is that you have one side with cupboards and the other side with drawers, I think it would be better to have them horizontal and that was your original request. Otherwise I am getting a feeling you will regret it down the end. They didn't do our bin drawer as requested and the cabinet maker has made a new one and also tracked down a bin that will fit too, so they say...he is coming tomorrow to install so I hope it is what we wanted. Our handover the other day was amazing and we had the most amazing Plantation Supervisor, even if we need something done now that we had not put on the PC form he will see what he can do, he even fixed my light yesterday. PICS! 371Apr 30, 2013 5:31 pm Well, I don't know how easy it is to change that now, because there will be holes in the cabinets where the vertical ones have been put in. They might have to change the whole cabinet doors. We wanted a bin drawer but we were told we couldn't have it. PICS! 372Apr 30, 2013 5:36 pm They can change it, all they have to do is get the cabinet maker to put new doors on it. This house is costing you a lot of money so you should be getting what you pay for, the bin drawer was more than possible with the amount of dead space under the bench too. who is your administrator? I really do hope you sort it out, nothing worse than saying "I should've". Millsy.... http://q2retreat.blogspot.com.au/ Re: Building in Fernvale - Handover in 6 weeks!! PICS! 376May 03, 2013 12:11 pm Okay guys, I could use some input... I just got a progress payment invoice for Fixing stage, and I think this is way too soon. They haven't finished painting, haven't installed shower screens, kitchen splashback, mirrors, flooring (including carpets), and they haven't started electricals. They've told us we are 6 weeks out from completion. Now, I was under the impression that the Fixing stage was practically the last 1-2 weeks where everything was completed, and we'd have to come out and see if anything needed fixing, they would spend a week or so fixing those things, and then it was completed. So in other words, we shouldn't be paying the fixing invoice until everything is actually done. Am I wrong? I'm a bit confused.... Fixing stage 377May 03, 2013 1:07 pm I think fixing is mainly like when the start 'fixing' things in, like the skirting, doors, architravs, cabinetry, etc? Not necessarily floor coverings, paint, or shower screens (which seem to be one of the very last things done, I guess so they don't get scratched or broken). 1st build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=59376 *New*-2nd build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=70324&p=1154282#p1154282 Re: Building in Fernvale - NEED SOME HELP! My friend who built last year said she didn't pay the fixing stage invoice until everything that could be completed was, such as painting and electricals and stuff, because she did a walk through with the SS and pointed out things that needed to be fixed or changed, which as I understood it, is the point of the fixing stage. But maybe I'm wrong. It's just weird that this is how her build was. I've got 14 days to pay the invoice, I normally do it on the day I get it, but this time I think I'll wait until it's due.
